
Near East University students presented educational materials they prepared to be used in mathematics and science classes to Çatalköy Primary School.
Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education Primary School Mathematics Teaching and Classroom Teaching Department students carried out a meaningful social responsibility project in order to increase creativity and interaction in education. Prospective teachers designed special educational materials for Çatalköy Primary School in order to ensure that children have a more active and enjoyable learning experience in mathematics and science classes.
The “Science Pirate Poster Project” developed by Near East University students was designed to contribute to the learning process of primary school students in particular. Posters prepared with colorful and fun designs allow children to learn scientific concepts visually and through practical methods. The materials prepared within the scope of the project were first exhibited at Çatalköy Primary School. Later, they were presented as gifts by volunteer students to be used at Çatalköy Primary School.
This meaningful project, which aims to contribute to society, once again revealed the importance of innovative approaches in education. Near East University continues to train teachers with academic competence and a sense of social responsibility with similar projects. The “Science Pirate Poster Project” is aimed to be implemented in more schools and reach more students in the coming years.

Teachers of the Future Are Being Trained with FETEMM Applications
Prof. Dr. Murat Tezer, a faculty member at the Department of Mathematics Education at Atatürk Faculty of Education of Near East University, who made the opening speech of the event, emphasized that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (FETEMM) applications are at the core of contemporary education systems. Prof. Dr. Tezer said, “As Near East University, we train our teachers of future not only with knowledge, but also with the skills to transfer this knowledge creatively and effectively. Such projects are a very important opportunity for the professional development of our students.”
The prospective teachers who implemented the project also stated that establishing one-on-one communication with primary school students and contributing to their learning processes was a very beneficial experience for them. The prospective teachers, who stated that students who are introduced to science at a young age will have an increased interest in these fields in the future, said that participating in such projects motivates them and increases their professional self-confidence.

Çatalköy Primary School Principal Uğur Çınar drew attention to the impact of the materials prepared by his future colleagues studying at Near East University, saying, “Such materials increase students’ interest in the lesson and make learning more permanent and enjoyable.
