Students discovered mathematics while having fun at the “Mathematical Models and Modeling” exhibition carried out by Near East University at Şehit Mehmet Eray Primary School! The exhibition carried out by Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education was organized within the scope of the “Mathematics Education” course with the theme of “Realistic Mathematics Education” with the aim of introducing mathematics to primary school students in a fun and concrete way.
In the event, which aims to teach mathematics by connecting it to students’ daily lives, students discovered mathematical models and modeling methods. This approach allows participants to develop their mathematical thinking skills while also providing an educational and instructive experience.
It will strengthen students’ connection with mathematics
Prof. Dr. Murat Tezer drew attention to the fact that the materials in the exhibition will increase students’ attitudes and success towards mathematics. Touching on the importance of innovative approaches in education, Prof. Dr. Tezer said, “Such materials will strengthen students’ connection with mathematics and contribute greatly to their learning processes.” Prof. Dr. Murat Tezer also thanked the prospective teachers who contributed to the preparation of the exhibition and the school’s administrative and teaching staff.
In her statement regarding the project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Köprülü, Ataturk Faculty of Education, Department of Classroom Teaching and Vice Chair of the Department of Basic Education, emphasized the importance of equipping prospective teachers with innovative and effective methods. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Köprülü said, “Our exhibition is a concrete reflection of our goal of developing creative solutions in education for our prospective teachers. I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”
