“Mathematics Materials” developed by Near East University students were donated to Balıkesir Primary School and Near East College

The materials developed by the students studying at the Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Classroom Teaching and Primary Education Mathematics Teaching departments within the scope of the “Mathematics Teaching Practices Enriched with Concrete Models” course continue to be delivered to schools.

The materials developed by the students under the supervision of Near East University Mathematics Education Department Lecturer Assist. Prof. Dr. Meryem Gülyaz Cumhur were donated to Balıkesir Primary School and Near East College.

Emphasizing that concrete models (concrete materials), which are indispensable for mathematics teaching, play a very important role in the continuity and permanence of knowledge, especially in young age groups, Assist. Prof. Dr. Meryem Gülyaz Cumhur said, “Concrete models are objects that embody abstract mathematical concepts. Mathematics teaching practices enriched with concrete models allow students to make connections between mathematics and daily life.”

Stating that the mathematics materials developed by university students, who are the teachers of the future, will make significant contributions to the development of their professional lives, Assist. Prof. Dr. Meryem Gülyaz Cumhur said, “We aim to contribute to today’s teachers and students by gifting the materials developed by our students to Balıkesir Primary School and Near East College.”
