Life of women subject to violation and abuse reflected through hair care and make-up at Violence Against Women Exhibition

The "Violence Against Women Exhibition" held by Makeup teacher Safiye Yalnız and students in cooperation with the Department of Hair Care and Beauty Services, Vocational School of Near East University and Department of Art Teaching, Atatürk Faculty of Education.

According to the press information provided by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, Mrs. Sibel Siber, the former President of the National Council opened the exhibition organized within the scope of the ‘Graduation Project’ course of the students of the Department of Hair Care and Beauty Services. In the exhibition depicting violence against women, real-life stories of women who were subjected to violence were reflected in hair and make-up by the department students.

Violence Against Women is a universal problem…
Head of Department of Hair Care and Beauty Services Assist. Prof. Dr. Yeşim Üstün Aksoy stating that the aim of the exhibition is to end the violence against women, emphasized that despite all national and international developments, violence against women is a universal problem which is common in all cultures and in the world regardless of the geographical borders, economic development and education level.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Aksoy stated that the society must be in solidarity against all kinds of physical and psychological violence and abuse against women, and pointed out that all violence and abuse against women is a crime against humanity.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Aksoy also expressed her sincere thanks Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatma Miralay, Head of Department of Art Teaching, and make-up teacher Safiye Yalnız for their contributions to the exhibition.
