KTMMOB – IMO and Near East University signs a Cooperation Protocol

  • The Chamber of Civil Engineers (İMO) affiliated to the Union of Chambers of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects (KTMMOB) has signed a protocol with Near East University in order to carry out joint work and enhance the cooperation between the parties.
  • The signing ceremony of the protocol took place at the Chamber of Civil Engineers of the Union of Chambers of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects. Near East University Department of Civil Engineering Chairman Professor Hüseyin Gökçekuş and KTMMOB Chairperson Seran Aysal signed the protocol on behalf of their parties.

    According to the info released by the Directorate of Press & Public Relations Office, the protocol signing ceremony was realized with the participation of the members of KTMMOB Board of Directors and Faculty members of Near East University. It was released that the protocol set terms and provision for a strong collaboration on scientific, social, academic, professional and educational issues between the parties.

    Seran Aysal "Quality in engineering education programs could be ensured through the accreditation process that based on certifying the competence”.
    In his remarks following the signing ceremony UCCTEA Chairperson Seran Aysal touched upon the rapidly growing number of universities in our country and underlined that quality education was much more important than the number of universities. He highlighted that quality in engineering education programs could be ensured through the accreditation process that based on certifying the competence.


    Aysal: "Accreditation is the indicator of both national and international high respectability"
    Underlining that accreditations were indicators of both national and international high respectability, Aysal expressed his satisfaction that the Germany based ASIIN ("Accreditation Agency Specialized in Accrediting Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics") had accredited the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by NEU Department of Civil Engineering. He drew attention that the ASIIN seal of quality was confirmation that all the requirements and quality characteristics of undergraduate and graduate degree programs were met, and thus it had the effect of enhancing the degrees awarded in terms of the international recognition accorded them.

    Seran Aysal ended his remarks by stating that the students studying at Near East University Department of Civil Engineering could become a "student member" of the chamber and thus they could contribute to their scientific studies and the resolutions of their educational challenges.

    In his remarks, the Chairman of NEU Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Gökçekuş underlined the crucial role of cooperation in achieving quality and success in education. "I would like to take this opportunity and extend my thanks to the Chamber Board of Directors for their warm welcome and hospitability. Today's meeting is a good start. We are here for collaboration extending as far as our dreams" said he.


    Professor Gökçekuş: "With cooperation, there is more strength in solving the problems relevant to the sector; we have an intention to open an academic door"
    Pointing out that it would be their most important task to organize seminars and workshops and provide platform for the members of UCCTEA Chamber of Civil Engineers to learn about our scientific studies and latest technologies and share their knowledge and experiences. "In this context, there is more strength with cooperation in solving the problems relevant to the sector; we have the intention to open an academic door" noted he.

    Stating that they were going to continue to benefit from the accredited lab of the chamber whenever they needed, Professor Gökçekuş highlighted the importance of sharing knowledge and experience through collaboration. He added that as Near East University Department of Civil Engineering, they would like to hold such meeting periodically and collaboratively produce solutions encountered in our country.
