Intense interest in the genetic and physical fitness tests initiated by the NEU Sports Academy, established by the Near East University with the slogan “Professional Support, Elite Performance”, continues. The number of applications to NEU Sports Academy, which aims to identify future elite athletes at an early age and guide them to the right sports branches through scientific sports tests applied for the first time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, has exceeded 450. While the test and analysis results of 140 people were completed in approximately 6 weeks, appointments were made for 75 athletes to take the tests.

In addition to the professional testing service it offers, NEU Sports Academy offers training in nine branches including basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, swimming, wrestling and dance, and aims to train young talents as elite athletes of the future, accompanied by expert coaches. Within the scope of the summer training program, the trainings carried out by expert coaches in each branch are carefully planned in order to increase the performance of the athletes and maximize their potential. In this way, NEU Sports Academy stands out as a sports training center that attracts attention not only in Northern Cyprus but also internationally.

Athletes accepted to NEU Sports Academy not only increase their physical performance but also gain in-depth knowledge in the field of sports sciences. The academy also aims to teach athletes the basic principles of sports science through theoretical training and seminars. In this way, athletes have the opportunity to improve themselves both on and off the field.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atamtürk emphasized that athlete candidates are directed to the right sports branch at an early age thanks to the tests performed. Atamtürk said, “This will provide significant advantages to the athletes and will also increase their interest and motivation. In addition, thanks to genetic sports tests, we can accelerate the development of athletes by choosing the right training method.”
