Innovative approaches in education were discussed at the “Knowledge Stage: Innovative Face of Teacher” event held at Near East University

The “Knowledge Stage: The Innovative Face of the Teacher” panel, held by Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Basic Education, Department of Classroom Teaching, was held at the Grand Library. The choir, skit, folk dance, science experiments, poetry and Near East Primary School Dance School’s performances performed before the panel were greatly appreciated.

In the panels and events organized under the coordination of Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Classroom Teaching, Deputy Head of the Department of Basic Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Köprülü, Prof. Dr. Engin Baysen took part as consultant of “Science”; Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Kıvanç Öztuğ as consultant of “Music” and Assist. Prof. Dr. Seçil Besim Ayhan contributed as “Theatre” consultant.

In the panel, where the importance of innovative approaches in education was emphasized, the role of classroom teachers and digitalization issues in the developing education environment were discussed from the perspective of innovative pedagogy. The panel pointed out that teachers should be seen as people who not only convey knowledge but also guide and support the development of students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Köprülü: “Teachers are not only figures who convey knowledge, but also guides who direct the learning process of students.”

Assoc. Prof. Köprülü started her opening speech by saying, “Education has always been a dynamic process, and being open to innovations in this process is a critical factor to increase the success of teachers and students.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Köprülü said, “This panel offers an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the transformation in education and to understand the key role played by teachers in this transformation.”

“Teachers are not only figures who convey knowledge, but also guides who direct the learning process of students. Thus, it is critical for them to constantly improve themselves and adopt innovative approaches,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Köprülü, and added, “Teachers’ creativity is important to make classroom environments more interesting and effective. Creative teaching strategies and projects can increase students’ motivation to learn and lead them to deeper understanding.”
