ICIER 2026 Begins: Social Sustainability Will Be Shaped by Artificial Intelligence

The 8th International Conference of Interdisciplinary Education Reflections (ICIER 2026), organized by the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education, will host participants from all over the world on April 21-22 in a hybrid model and free of charge.

Near East University, ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, is hosting a significant international academic event aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary approaches in education. The 8th International Conference of Interdisciplinary Education Reflections (ICIER 2026), to be carried out by the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Cyprus Turkish Women Entrepreneurs Association, will be held on April 21-22 in a hybrid model and free of charge.

This year, the conference, themed “Social Sustainability in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, will address the transforming structure of education from an interdisciplinary perspective. Within the scope of the conference, the transformation of education in the age of artificial intelligence, current issues such as social sustainability, equality in education, technology-based learning approaches, and innovative educational models will be discussed with contributions from researchers from different disciplines.

Prof. Dr. Hafize Keser and Prof. Dr. Nergiz Ercil Çağıltay will participate as invited speakers from Turkey, while Prof. Dr. Gheorghita Ghinea and Elizabeth Moses-Mullard will participate from the UK.

ICIER 2026, which is free to attend, will be held in a hybrid model. Presentations will be given both in-person and online. This will allow researchers, academics, and education professionals from different parts of the world to easily participate in the conference. Content aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals…

ICIER 2026 also offers content aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, the conference will focus on academic studies conducted under the headings of health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, innovation and infrastructure, reducing inequalities, climate action, peace and justice, and partnerships for the goals will be shared, and new collaborations will be developed.

A Rich Conference Content with Panels and Training Workshops…

Konferans kapsamında sosyal sürdürülebilirlik temasına uygun olarak panel ve atölyelerle desteklenen konferans zengin bir içeriğe sahip olacak.

The conference will have a rich content supported by panels and workshops in line with the theme of social sustainability.

The first panel, to be held on April 21st, will focus on “Solving Social Problems in Social Sustainability” and will include Dr. Günay Kibrit, Head of the Overcoming Obstacles Unit of the TRNC Presidency; Teyfide Tecel Hatipoğlu, Head of the TRNC Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Commission; Alev Ecevit, Director of the Social Services Department; Özlem Ratip, Academic Coordinator of the Cyprus Turkish Entrepreneurial Women’s Association; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emete Toros, Head of the 60+ Refreshment University from Kyrenia University. On the second day, April 22nd, a panel will be held on “The Role of Universities in Social Sustainability” with participation of Prof. Dr. Fatoş Silman from CIU, Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören from Near East University, Prof. Dr. Terin Adalı from Kyrenia American University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Yazgın from Eastern Mediterranean University.

Workshops held during the conference will be given by Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ataman, Prof. Dr. Sibel Dinçyürek, Prof. Dr. Sinan Saraçlı, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sertan Kağan. These workshops will also be open to the public.
