The First Percutaneous Liver Cancer Treatment Held Near East University Hospital

Radiofrequency Ablation Treatment Method first time in TRNC applied to Haluk Mevlut ÖNDER who diagnosed with iver cancer suffering from three masses of which the largest was 3,5 cm at his liver and tumors were destroyed by incineration with radiofrequency, a method started to be used frequently in the world recently.

According to a press statement released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, Haluk Mevlüt ÖNDER was diagnosed with liver cancer and as the chemothreapy treatment was found to be risky, the radiofrequency ablation treatment method which is now frequently used in the world, applied to the patient. The tumors were treated one by one with the ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation device and all the masses were destroyed within a very short while lasting only 45 minute. The patient taking preventive treatment inlcuding antibiotic therapy and pain killers, did not come up with any complaints during the follow-up process and feeling good after the follow-up for a night, was discharged on the third day.

RF ablation device, except the liver tumors, is now used in treatment of kidney cancers and non-cancerous thyroid tumors.

Cancer Patients Receive Treatment At Their Own Homeland

It was also stated at the press statement released by the University of Near East Hospital that in accordance with the health protocols signed between the NEU Hospital and Ministry of Health and Foundation To Help Cancer Patients, the patients suffering from cancer have been provided with all the opportunities to receive treatment at our country, without going abroad in seek of treatment.
