Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque is the largest mosque in the the TRNC with 62 domes and 6 minarets. There are only a few days left until the opening of Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque. Designed on the Near East University campus, inspired by Ottoman architecture, and allowing 10 thousand people to worship at the same time, Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque has already become an important part of the Nicosia skyline.

Organized by Near East University and open to everyone, with the photography contest themed “Suat Günsel Mosque”, 40 photos consisting of photos of the mosque taken from different angles and compositions will meet art lovers at the exhibition held by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.

The application deadline is November 17!
Each participant will be able to apply with 5 photos in the photography contest, which is open to the participation of all professional and amateur photographers. 40 photographs, which will be selected by the jury consisting of academics and photographers, will be immortalized by taking part in the photography exhibition.

The photographs selected after the jury evaluation will be presented to art lovers at the exhibition to be held by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts at the end of November.

The gold coating of the domes and minarets was completed by stained glass that colors 104 windows in Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque, dome decorations, all handcrafted, and 47 chandeliers to be used in lighting have been completed. It has 62 domes and 6 minarets and can accommodate 10 thousand people to worship at the same time. The people of the TRNC had decided on the materials used in the minarets and domes of the Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque through a survey. According to the results of the survey in which 2,215 people participated, white stone specific to the island of Cyprus was used on the exterior of the mosque.
