As the second of the public primary schools that the Near East Enterprises completed its establishment within the scope of the “6 state primary schools in 6 districts” project, Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School was handed over to the Directorate of Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education and Culture with a magnificent ceremony held during the Republic Day Week.

President Ersin Tatar, President of the National Assembly Önder Sennaroğlu, Prime Minister Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia Ali Murat Başçeri, Commander of the Security Forces Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu, Minister of Finance Dursun Oğuz, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Deputy Minister of Environment, Minister of Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey Mücahit Demirtaş, Iskele District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu, Iskele Municipality Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu and many guests including deputies and mayors attended to the ceremony.

Completed in 7 months and made ready for education, Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School Pier was established on a land of 25 thousand square meters. There are 16 classrooms each having a room of 60 square meters, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a fully equipped music room, administrative offices, teacher rooms and exhibition halls within the complex. Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School Pier also has a playground of 4,500 square meters. 60 works of art were placed in the interior of the school complex, which was afforested with 100 palm trees. During the construction of the school, 3,500 square meters of asphalt, 4,000 cubic meters of concrete and 6,500 square meters of parquet were used.

At the delivery and opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Mayor of Iskele Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, Prime Minister Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu and President Ersin Tatar made speeches. After the speeches, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, handed over the Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School to the Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu.

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “Our biggest goal is to be permanent in this land, to have unshaken roots, to integrate with the world with the strength we derive from our common roots we share with our Motherland Turkey.”
Expressing their satisfaction for handing over the schools in Nicosia and Iskele, less than a year after the meeting where they decided to build a state primary school in each of the 6 districts of the TRNC in December 2020, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Our next school, which we will open in Famagusta after Iskele, is Dr. Suat Günsel State Famagusta Primary School. We will start our investments as soon as possible by laying the foundations of our schools, which we will bring to the children of the country, in Güzelyurt, Lefke and Kyrenia.”

“Our biggest goal for the Turkish Cypriot community and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is to be perpetual in these lands, to take roots that will not be shaken, and to reach the universal by integrating with the world, with the strength we derive from our common roots we share with our Motherland Turkey. This is the reason why we are trying to open many of our projects to the world.” Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel gave information about the projects that the Near East Enterprises is preparing to open to the world.

Reminding that Near East University is among the top 250 universities in the world in the fields of “Engineering” and “Computer Sciences” in the World Universities Ranking 2022 published by the international higher education rating agency Times Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “It is an indescribable happiness for us that our name, which is among the best universities in the world, is written ‘Northern Cyprus’.”

Prof. Dr. Günsel said that GÜNSEL, the local and national car of the TRNC, will attend the auto fairs to be held in London on December 14-16 and in Beijing on April 2022, with its first models GÜNSEL B9, and will fly the flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus around the world.

Stating that they will make the PCR Diagnosis and Variant Analysis Kit, of which entire design and R&D was carried out by Near East University and accredited by the Molecular Diagnosis Quality Control Program-MOTAKK a few days ago, available all over the world very soon, especially in Turkey, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “For the first time, a medical product of which R&D and design were made by Turkish scientists in this country, in this land, will be used all over the world.”
Stating that they plan to open the Near East University Faculty of Medicine Yeniboğaziçi Hospital, which is under construction, in the first month of the new year, Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “While we are opening our hospital, we will also open our gymnasium and the Near East Campus Yeniboğaziçi Grand Library, the third largest library in the TRNC, which will meet a very important need of the region.”

“We continue to produce with an unprecedented productivity and speed in art and culture, which is another key to enlightenment and progress while we take science to our center,” said Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel and also gave information about the projects they plan to complete in 2022. With the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, which will be the ninth-largest museum in the world when completed, the opening of the Dr. Suat Günsel Mosque will be held next year during the week of the Republic Day. Prof. Dr. Günsel stated that the Maritime History Museum TEAL, which will be in service at the Kyrenia Port, will also be opened on July 20, 2022.

“As the Near East Enterprises, every step we take, every brick we put on top of each other, every knowledge we produce, and every project shaped by science arising from this knowledge belongs to the Turkish Cypriot community. This is the most important basis on which our productivity gains strength. I wish Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School to be beneficial for all our children and our country.”

President Ersin Tatar, in his speech at the opening of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School, expressed his happiness that the Günsel Family achieved the impossible and brought such a beautiful and fully equipped educational institution with 500 student capacity within a time as short as 7 months.

Emphasizing that good things are happening in the TRNC, President Tatar said that in order to look to the future with hope, the products of institutions and organizations should be respected and it is a duty to instill this in young people.

Stating that the TRNC has achieved very important things despite the political obstacles it has been subjected to, President Ersin Tatar said, “These beauties and values revealed by the Günsel Family are the success of our country. We are proud of that. We say everywhere that we will never accept an association agreement on a federal basis. The TRNC will continue on its way by getting stronger. In the past, many students were taught in a single class, these opportunities were not available. However, now we are happy that our children will receive education in such a beautiful and well-equipped school. In half a century, the TRNC people have managed to do great things. Our country will continue to progress, develop and look to the future with confidence. I would like to thank the Günsel Family, Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu, and everyone who contributed to bringing this school to our country.”

Stating that the “6 state primary schools in 6 districts” project of the Near East Enterprises was implemented step by step, Prime Minister Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu said, “The Günsel Family, in addition to the great works they have so far accomplished, is putting a very important contribution to the future of the country with the State Primary Schools.”

Referring to the embargoes applied to the TRNC, Prime Minister Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu said that despite the embargoes imposed on the TRNC, the Günsel Family continues on its way resolutely in many fields such as education, health, automotive, art and science. Stating that children raised in quality educational institutions will carry the country forward, Prime Minister Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu addressed the Günsel Family with the words “So glad we have you”.

Emphasizing that there are difficult days in pandemic conditions as in the whole world, Prime Minister Sucuoğlu said, “The most important factor in the future of a country is education,” and said that they will not allow pandemic conditions to prevent education.

Stating that generations with a free conscience and free knowledge will grow in Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School, Prime Minister Sucuoğlu said, “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this work that was brought to the country.”

Olgun Amcaoğlu: “If we are dreaming of the future and planning for the future, we need to prepare infrastructure and invest in children and education.”
Emphasizing his excitement at taking over the Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School just 7 months after the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu said, “With the initiative of the Günsel Family, great steps have been taken for the children, students and future of the TRNC. Each of our children, who are our future, should be able to think like Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, should be able to fight like Fazıl Küçük, and each of them should realize the dreams of establishing the future of this country like Rauf Denktaş.”
Minister Amcaoğlu said that the opening of two big schools before the end of the year was a great success and continued as follows, “First as a father, and then as the Minister of National Education and Culture, I would like to thank everyone who worked night and day for this place.”

At the end of his speech, Olgun Amcaoğlu said, “If we want to dream and plan for the future, we need to prepare infrastructure and invest in children and education. I would like to thank the Günsel Family and all the boards and organizations that supported them for leading all these investments.”

Hasan Sadıkoğlu: “It was our biggest dream to open a second public school in the Iskele region. This dream has become a reality thanks to the Günsel Family.”
Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu started his opening speech by expressing his happiness for the opening of the Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School during the Republic Day celebration week. Saying that opening a second public school in the Iskele region was one of his biggest dreams, Hasan Sadıkoğlu expressed that these dreams have become reality with the Günsel Family.

Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu said, “I would like to repeat on the eve of World Children’s Rights Day that education is the right of every child. Children are our future, let’s take care of our future.” He wished Dr. Suat Günsel Iskele State Primary School to be beneficial for Iskele’s education life.
