Athletes and coaches who left their mark on 2025 with their hard work and discipline were honored at the “Platinum Award Ceremony” organized by the TRNC Gymnastics Federation and hosted by Near East University. 60 athletes and 22 coaches received awards at the ceremony.
The “Platinum Award Ceremony,” organized by the TRNC Gymnastics Federation to honor athletes and coaches who stood out with their achievements in 2025, took place at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center with a large attendance. 60 athletes and 22 coaches from 18 schools, who distinguished themselves with their outstanding performances throughout the year, received their awards at the ceremony, held with the contributions of Near East University, Near East University Hospital, Near East Bank, and Dorana Hotel Nicosia.
The award ceremony, which brought together the gymnastics community, was more than just an awards ceremony; it was a special gathering where achievements were shared and feelings of unity and solidarity were strengthened. The evening served as a powerful source of motivation for athletes and coaches before the new season, creating a hopeful atmosphere for the future of gymnastics.
Prior to the awards ceremony, the first part of the “January 2026 Gymnastics Coaching Seminar Program”, carried out by the TRNC Gymnastics Federation, was held. The two-day event stood out with its education and development-focused content. Hosted by Near East University, the seminar program featured expert academics and instructors discussing current training approaches, leadership skills, performance management, and application-based studies. The seminar, aimed at increasing the professional knowledge and competencies of coaches, was followed with great interest by the participants.
Hasan Sapsızoğlu: “This evening is a night of hard work, discipline, and success.”
TRNC Gymnastics Federation President Hasan Sapsızoğlu emphasized the significance of the awards ceremony for them by saying, “Tonight, we are proud to bring together our athletes and coaches who have worked hard throughout the year under one roof. This evening is a night of hard work, discipline, and success.” Sapsızoğlu stated that 60 athletes and 22 coaches from 18 schools received awards, and reminded everyone that they had completed the first day of the “January 2026 Gymnastics Coaching Seminar Program” before the awards ceremony.
Expressing that realizing such a comprehensive organization held special significance for them, Hasan Sapsızoğlu, President of the TRNC Gymnastics Federation, said, “We had been holding our seminars online for a long time. Today, with the great support of the Near East University family, we had a fulfilling weekend by bringing together both our seminar and our awards ceremony.”
Sapsızoğlu emphasized that the sponsorship and infrastructure support provided by Near East University to the federations was extremely valuable, and stated that one of the biggest problems for sports federations was finding suitable venues for organizations, and added, “The Near East University family opening up all its resources to us has lifted a huge burden from the federations.” Hasan Sapsızoğlu emphasized that it is extremely important that the Near East University Hospital became the official health sponsor of the federations, saying, “Providing equal and comprehensive health services to all our children is very important to us. I do hereby thank the Near East Family for this sensitivity.”
