GÜNSEL professionals will transfer their experiences in the automotive industry to engineering students through the courses they will give at the Near East University Faculty of Engineering.

GÜNSEL professionals will teach “Applied Engineering Education”, “CAD Design”, “Vehicle Mechanics and Subsystems”, “Drawing in Electrics-Electronics” and “Electric Vehicle Technologies” at the Near East University Faculty of Engineering in the new academic year.
With the vision of “Entrepreneurial University” it has adopted, the Near East University, which has implemented many projects it has designed and R&D, especially GÜNSEL, the domestic and national car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, continues to convey its experiences in these projects that will give a great impetus to the country.

Taking the university-industry cooperation one step further and bringing them together on the same campus, the Near East University institutionalized this cooperation with the “Academic Advisory Board” that it established to coordinate the academic processes that the country will carry out with GÜNSEL, the 100 percent electric car brand.

The Academic Advisory Board will be a bridge between the two institutions
The “Academic Advisory Board”, which was established between the two institutions with the aim of increasing the number and quality of studies such as projects, publications, lectures and internships, will be a link between GÜNSEL and Near East University with the objective to plan the industry-academia cooperation in two ways and to make this cooperation more effective. In line with the recommendation of the Board, experienced professionals of GÜNSEL will also give theoretical and applied courses to the students of the Near East University Faculty of Engineering and the related departments of the Near East University Vocational School, which have internship and employment guarantee at GÜNSEL.

The Academic Advisory Board was formed under the chair of Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Fadi Al-Turjman who is in charge of research activities, Head of Automotive Engineering Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Hacı, Director of Near East University Vocational School Assoc. Prof. Sezer Kanbul and Head of Computer Programming Department Assist. Prof. Assoc. Dr. Seren Başaran.

With the new training period, the courses to be given are as follows; Systems Engineer Muhammet Keleş – “Applied Engineering Education”, Life Module Team Leader Emre Uyar – “CAD Design”, Drive Module Group Leader Samet Öztürk – “Vehicle Mechanics and Subsystems” and Harness Group Leader Pınar Öztürk – “Electrical-Electronics”. In the coming period, new courses will be added to the courses given by GÜNSEL professionals.

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “We will transfer the knowledge we gained during the development and prototyping process of GÜNSEL to our students studying at the Faculty of Engineering through our professionals.”
Stating that they took the vision of University 4.0 one step further and acted with the vision of an “entrepreneurial university”, Near East University Board of Trustees and GÜNSEL Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We continue to implement the projects we have developed in the fields of automotive, health and defense with our R&D and scientific production power.” Reminding that they developed the GÜNSEL, the domestic and national car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, with their own teams, and produced 13 prototypes of the first model B9, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We will transfer the knowledge we gained during the development and prototyping process of GÜNSEL to our students studying at the Faculty of Engineering through our professionals.”

Near East University Vice Rector and Head of Academic Advisory Board Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, emphasizing the importance of applied education in addition to theoretical education, especially in fields such as engineering, said, “With this approach, we see our students as our most important stakeholders in every project we develop on the Near East University campus. While we are preparing our students for the future, we aim to gain experience in their fields by making them a part of the direct practice as well as their theoretical equipment.”

Stating that they have already provided internship opportunities and job guarantees at GÜNSEL to Near East University Engineering Faculty students, Prof. Dr. Kurt said, “With the theoretical and applied courses given by GÜNSEL professionals, our students will graduate ready for the future.”
