As one of the most well-established banks on the island, the groundbreaking ceremony of the General Directorate of the Near East Bank was realised at the helm of Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Near East Bank General Directorate was held on Kermiya Metehan Main Road, Osman Örek Street and Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün; Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu; Minister of Public Works and Transport Kemal Dürüst; Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu; Minister of Health Faiz Sucuoğlu; Minister of Labour and Social Security Hamza Ersan Saner; Members of the Parliament; Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat İ. Günsel; Founding Rector of University of Kyrenia Cemre Günsel Haskasap; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel; Vice Rectors of Near East University and University of Kyrenia; General Director of Near East Bank Selami Kaçamak; Vice General Director of Near East Bank Enver Haskasap; Members of the Board of Management of Near East Bank; and Near East Bank personnel and guests attended the ceremony.

It was stated that since the date of foundation, the Near East Bank has been shaped by a vision to be innovative, fair, reliable and customer oriented; such that the Near East Bank now envisions to provide for by the economy of the country and to the public in general through better facilities and therefore has initiated the General Directorate Building.

Kaçamak: “We will continue to provide contemporary banking services in a wide range of locations...”

General Director of Near East Bank Selami Kaçamak, has stated that the Bank currently had 15 branches and that they were planning to open many more branches. He added that there were a high number of ATM’s around the island, and with the online services of the Bank, they were providing services to customers 24/7. Furthermore, he stated that the Near East Bank also contributed to the

employment of the country and the active size of assets was 800 million, money deposits of 700 million, live credit of 460 million and equity of 66 million Turkish Liras. Moreover, he stated that the Bank currently employed 230 personnel; and that the personnel were highly competent, hard working, genial, and customer oriented, making them highly valuable for the bank.

With its Contemporary Architectural Structure, the General Directorate covers 6812m2area...

Making further statements regarding the General Directorate Building of the Near East Bank, Selami Kaçamak, stated that the building, which will have contemporary architectural features, will be 9 floored, covering an area of 6812m² and that it will have the shape of a flag waving in the wind.

In addition to the above, Kaçamak expressed that there will be a central achieve, a fully equipped data centre to store customer information, a parking area, centrally controlled entrance and exit, main safes and private deposit boxes, an exhibition hall for pre-launching, a fitness hall, a dining hall to serve 500 people, a restaurant, education and presentation rooms.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel: “We are working to create a strong economy for our country!”

Making a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, stated that a strong financial system and infrastructure were needed for a strong economy and they were working towards this goal to create a strong economy for the country.; and that they were coming a step closer to the achievement of this goal.

Furthermore, he stated that each and every investment made to this country will be beneficial to the people of this country now and in the future. Moreover, he emphasised that a s the Günsel Family, they had been working hard to invest and improve the conditions of this country; working to achieve the better and the better.

Such that, as much as they had invested in the field of education, they had also invested in the field of finance. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel added that in time they believed that the investments made in our country will actually cause it to integrate to the global finance. He further expressed that the reason why they were groundbreaking that day was based on the desire to make a positive impact on the economy of the country in the long run.

Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital will be opened on 15th November...

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel, stated that the Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital will be opened on 15th November and that the Hospital will initiate a new era in the field of health. He pointed out that they were highly proud; since they were completing the establishment of the hospital within a year, as promised.

The Groundbreaking of the Automobile Factory will be held in December...

In addition to the above, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel, expressed that subsequent to the opening of the University of Kyrenia Hospital, another dream was becoming true since the groundbreaking of the first local automobile factory of the country will be held on 9th December, 2016.

The pioneering next step which is surely to have an impact on the Cyprus Turkish Automotive Industry will be triggered with the establishment of the first local automobile factory on the island; aiming to hold a position in the industry to make and export cars in to the world.

Also making a speech at the ground breaking ceremony, Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün stated that they were once again proud of the initiatives taken by the Near East University family. He stressed that all investment made to this country actually caused the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to develop and progress and in this regard, he believed that there was a strong need to applause and appreciate investors who make a great contribution to this country. Furthermore, he stated that these acts deserved every possible support to be given.

Subsequent to the speeches made at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün; Ministers; Founding Rector of Near East University, Suat Günsel; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel; Near East Bank authorities jointly pressed the button to officially launch the establishment of the Near East Bank General Dicrotorate Building.
