Referring to the challenges brought by the digital age in his speech, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ reminded us of the concepts of ‘crowded loneliness’ and ‘brain rot’ chosen by the Turkish Language Association and Oxford Dictionary in 2024. Stating that art, science and education can overcome all these negativities, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “While art unites people and enables them to overcome loneliness, science prevents mental decay. Education, as the basis of all these elements, prepares us for a meaningful future.” Addressing the graduates, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “Wherever you are, continue to produce for society and contribute to humanity. Instead of losing yourself in the limitless flow of information and content offered by the digital world, transform this flow into meaningful production. Never give up on developing your original creativity. Ask questions, dream and always aim for better.” Then, addressing the academics, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “While strengthening our students’ academic knowledge, you instilled ethical values in them and enabled them to look at the world from a broader perspective. Your contributions will always be present in the future achievements of our graduates.”
