Graduates of Near East University Tourism Faculty conferred upon their diplomas

Graduates of the Near East University Faculty of Tourism 2019-2020 Fall semester received their diplomas at a ceremony.

According to the information provided by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, the Vice-Rector of the Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Tülen Saner, deans, department heads, lecturers, students and families attended to the graduation ceremony. After reading the National Anthem, Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Tülen Saner, on behalf of Turkish-speaking students Ruşen Mert Amanat and on behalf of foreign students Ryan Uchizi Mumba made a speech each.

At the ceremony, the music performance of İlyas Abdullin, one of the faculty members of Ataturk Faculty of Education Department of Music Teaching, and the dance show of students of the Dance School of Near East University Directorate of Health, Sports, and Culture were highly appreciated.

Prof. Dr. Tülen Saner; "Our goal has always been to provide our students with the best, highest quality possible and appropriate training for the day ..."
Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Saner, giving the opening speech of the ceremony, said that they adopt the principle of providing their students with the best possible quality education in accordance with the requirements of the present day and that they have been carrying out their studies with a team spirit.

Prof. Dr. Saner; “Our goal has always been to provide our students with the best, highest quality and appropriate education. We aimed to equip our students with the necessary knowledge and skills and ensure that they always stay at the forefront at the national and international level in the competitive business environment.”

Expressing that the students of the Department of Gastronomy have returned from the competitions they have been participating in for two years, Prof. Dr. Saner congratulated Chef Erhun Ekinci and the students. Addressing families, Prof. Dr. Saner said that their children experienced the success and joy of graduation, and that their children are now in a position to stand on their own feet. Addressing graduate students, Prof. Dr. Saner expressed that her students, who will start a new beginning and struggle for life, will be the ambassadors of the Near East University Faculty of Tourism in the best places and in the best way.

Prof. Dr. Saner said, “Remember, as the Faculty of Tourism, we have supported you as far as we can, and we will continue to support our students. I congratulate our students and their families sincerely, and wish our students much more success. Good luck. let your path be clear and your future be bright.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tuzunkan; "In TRNC, with the changing world, we have made breakthroughs in health tourism by adapting to the age of renewal in tourism..."

Near East University Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan said "Today has a special meaning, because you are happy to step into your new lives as young tourism graduates and professionals equipped with knowledge and manners during your education." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan underlined that the graduates, who will try to make useful contributions to their country as honest, hardworking and productive people, will serve the development of their countries as entrepreneurial individuals who have a theoretical infrastructure, who know how to apply and can closely follow the technological developments. Stating that the developments in the world, new strategies and visions in the tourism sector make it necessary to realize that more than 30 million tourists annually visit Cyprus and Turkey, Vice-Rector Tüzünkan pointed out that in health tourism they have adapted to the changing world and to breakthroughs in tourism.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan said, “Our Tourism Faculty aims to increase the knowledge, skills and abilities of entrepreneurs and employees in the tourism sector, which is the most important locomotive sector of our country's economy, to develop the tourism sector in our region, to meet the needs in this field, and to train the qualified personnel it needs, and to make national and international contributions to the sector as part of its mission.”

Explaining that Near East University, which continues to grow by improving itself every year, has adopted the 4th Generation University Model with the aim of increasing its scientific contributions towards industry and society, producing science for the society, spreading its studies to other segments of the society and developing its projects in a way that will contribute to the society. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan also addressed graduate students’ families. Addressing the families, he said that they will proudly watch their children's achievements and that the successes of their children will honour them.

Addressing graduate students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan said, “Today is a meaningful day when you close a period of your life and make the beginning of another period with the power you get from it. You entered under the roof of the Near East as young people who grew up until then with the love, care and support of your families. Your teachers provided you with contemporary and accurate information along with the other high technology-based opportunities provided by Near East University. You have friends from different countries of the world, from many parts of society. You have created your social life by respecting each other, showing tolerance and mutual learning. Keep your horizons wide with the information you acquire, continue learning about life, refresh your knowledge and let your target always be the whole world. We are proud of you once again. We hope that your success will inspire our students who will graduate after you ... Every new success you will show in your working life as the graduates of Near East University, will further glorify the Near East University, make us happy, and honor us.”

Ruşen Mert Amanat; “Studying in this beautiful country empowered me…”
Speaking on behalf of Turkish-speaking students, Ruşen Amanat stated that she graduated as a confident and dedicated tourism professional and that studying in a country, where people who love and value the student, gave her the feeling of being at home and this feeling took her one step further. Amant said, “If tourism is managed correctly in a country, you can create a brand country and deal with economic problems. You can raise hopeful generations for the future. It is still in my mind that my precious teachers welcome me from the moment I entered the faculty. Being in this family has always given me strength and happiness. The benefits of studying in this beautiful country are endless. Trust yourself, friends. We have to believe in ourselves. We are people who will build tomorrow. We are the President of the future, we are the important people who will shape the tourism of the future.”

After the speeches, a slide show consisting of activities attended by the students of the Faculty of Tourism was held. The ceremony ended by presenting the students their diplomas and throwing their caps in the air.
