Graduates of Near East University 2019-2020 Fall Semester Master and Doctorate Programs conferred upon their diplomas

Students who graduated from Near East University Social Sciences, Educational Sciences, and Health Sciences Institutes graduate programs of 2019-2020 Fall Semester received their diplomas.

Özay Günsel Children's University Rector Prof.Dr. Filiz Meriçli, Vice-Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Educational Sciences Institute directors, deans, department heads, lecturers, students and their families participated at the ceremony.

At the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of National Anthem, Assist. Prof. Dr. Erkan Sülün and lecturer Atakan Sarı performed a musical concert and the Turkish Cypriot Folk Dances show was performed. At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay, Director of Institute of Educational Sciences, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Dr. Nedime Karasel Ayda on behalf of Turkish-speaking students, and Suphi Salman, a graduate of the Institute of Educational Sciences, Department of Environmental Management, made a speech.

Prof. Dr. Altınay: “We are carrying out interdisciplinary studies…”
The Director of the Institute of Educational Sciences, who made the opening speech of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay stated that the institutions serve science and influence the scientific studies with their qualified staff and bring together interdisciplinary sciences, and that their aim is to raise individuals who are innovative, dynamic, creative, enlighten social problems and open a new spectrum to innovations.

Prof. Dr. Altınay said, “Research and development are of great importance in order to increase the quality in higher education. Dear graduates, by becoming a scientist, you will become our beloved representatives by making continuous research and contributions to advances in science. I would like to thank you on behalf of all institutes for your progress in this meaningful turning point which is the cornerstone of research and development."

Prof. Dr. Kurt, “Our students will be a light for the future ...”
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, on the other hand, gave brief information about the final point reached by Near East University. Prof. Dr. Kurt emphasized that Near East University academics attended 813 international academic events in 2019, 1142 academic events were organized at the University in 2019, and university lecturers presented 864 papers at international congresses, and that nearly 1300 international articles were published in 2019. Emphasizing that students will enlighten the future, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt said; “I wish our students every success throughout their lives. Whatever you do, trust yourself and try to break the borders of ordinariness."

Dr. Nedime Karasel Ayda, a graduate of the Department of Education Management Ph.D. program, who delivered a speech on behalf of Turkish-speaking students, said "Near East University is a big family. We are proud to graduate from Near East University, which is one of the top universities in our country. Near East University is a large institution that trains many academicians with the principle of living on the island like a continental, growing more and more every day, offering all kinds of opportunities to its students and offering the chance to not only use information processing but also producing information. Taking important steps to increase the quality of education with scholarship opportunities for students, Near East University is a large family with its students, faculty members and employees who are dedicated to cooperate with and guide each other. The university is not limited to education. That is why we will always be honored to be individuals raised by this family.”

Following the speeches, the Graduation Ceremony ended with the presentation of diplomas and throwing the caps up.
