Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen made statements on the health issues of the 3rd President of the TRNC, Dr. Derviş Eroğlu.

A press conference was held at the Near East University Hospital about Derviş Eroğlu’s health condition, who was treated at the Near East University Hospital due to complaints of dizziness, speech disorder and confusion. At the press conference attended by Derviş Eroğlu’s daughter TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay, Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen, Head of Cardiology Department Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu and Head of Neurology Department Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özmenoğlu made statements.

Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen: “Our President, whose physical functions returned to normal after the treatment, was not connected to any medical support device at any stage of his treatment.”
Explaining that the TRNC’s 3rd President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu admitted to the Near East University Hospital on Tuesday, August 23 at 12:00 due to the complaints of dizziness, speech disorder and confusion, Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen said, “A viral infection affecting the cerebral cortex was suspected in the first examinations, and the treatment process was started in this direction without delay.”

Stating that all of Dr. Derviş Eroğlu’s cognitive functions have returned to normal as of this morning after the treatment,, Prof. Dr. Yenen emphasized that Eroğlu was conscious throughout the treatment process and that he did not need to be connected to any medical support device.

Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen said that the treatment of Dr. Derviş Eroğlu has been carried out by neurologists headed by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özmenoğlu and by a committee of cardiologists headed by Hamza Duygu.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özmenoğlu: “We continue the treatment of our President in the intensive care unit for follow-up purposes. We will take him to normal service by tomorrow.”
Stating that all necessary checks of Derviş Eroğlu, who admitted to the hospital with dizziness, slurred speech and confusion, were made quickly and his treatment was started, Near East University Hospital Head of Neurology Department Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özmenoğlu said, “We can see that the general health condition of our President had improved within 17 hours after his treatment had started. He regained consciousness, began to speak, and his breathing returned to normal. His general health condition is very good. Today, we continue his treatment in the intensive care unit for follow-up purposes.” Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özmenoğlu said that Eroğlu will be taken to the normal service tomorrow.

Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu: “The President has no problems with his heart.”
Explaining that Derviş Eroğlu had previously had cardiovascular complaints and blood pressure problems, they suspected that his complaints might be cardiological, Near East University Hospital Cardiology Department Head Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu said, “We saw that the results were normal in all the cardiological examinations we carried out. The President has no problems with his heart.”
