Near East University Covid-19 Diagnostic Laboratory, participating in the "SARS-CoV-2 RNA Qualitative External Quality Control Program" of MOTAKK, one of Turkey's independent external quality control program providers, received full rate. Thus, the accuracy and reliability of the tests studied at the COVID-19 Diagnostic Laboratory were certified.

The success of the Near East University COVID-19 Diagnostic Laboratory, which plays an active role in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic in our country, has also been registered by MOTAKK, the independent external quality control program provider. MOTAKK gave 100 full points to the accuracy and reliability of the COVID-19 tests carried out at the DESAM Covid-19 Diagnostic Laboratory.

During the evaluation and certification process, external quality control samples sent by MOTAKK were studied at the Near East University COVID-19 Diagnostic Laboratory. The samples whose results were previously reported in MOTAKK were also studied by the Near East University COVID-19 Diagnostic Laboratory and all were reported correctly.

Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that they have been working with the goal of 100 percent accuracy since the beginning of the pandemic process, and this was approved and registered by MOTAKK, an independent external quality control program provider. Stating that they have studied a total of 151,365 samples since July 2020, the date they started PCR tests, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ pointed out that the COVID-19 Diagnostic Laboratory, which provides 24/7 active service, has a daily 4,000 tests capacity with a fully equipped and trained 28-person expert team.

What is MOTAKK?
MOTAKK, which was established as an external quality control program provider company at Ankara University Technopolis, provides external quality control panels for molecular methods used in the diagnosis of viral infections in clinical laboratories. It contributes to the molecular diagnostic tests conducted throughout the country to be made more standardized and accurate.

Covid-19 PCR tests studied by the Near East University Covid-19 Diagnostic Laboratory, which participates in the SARS-CoV-2 RNA Qualitative External Quality Control Program, were evaluated by MOTAKK every 3 months and scored and certified according to accurate reporting success criteria.

MOTAKK has been conducting SARS-CoV-2 RNA external quality control programs in 130-150 authorized Covid-19 PCR laboratories since May 2020, within the framework of the protocol it has made with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.
