Solo painting exhibition of Kyrgyzstan artists Abazbek Apiyev titled 'Passenger', Azat İdirisov's solo exhibition titled 'Personal Exhibition No2', Kazakh artist Karlygash Kanseyt's exhibition titled 'Mood', Kuralay Amanzholova's exhibition titled 'Metamorphosis' and Yerzhan Tanayev's exhibition titled 'Jazz' were opened by the former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, and Güzelyurt Deputy Menteş Gündüz.

According to the information given by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of the Near East University, Güzelyurt Deputy and former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Menteş Gündüz, Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat İ. Günsel, vice-rectors, directors of the institutes, deans, lecturers, artists and guests attended to the opening ceremony of five solo exhibitions.

At the opening, Vice-Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Kyrgyzstan artist Azat Idirisov, Kazakhstan artist Karlygash Kanseit and former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports and Güzelyurt Deputy Menteş Gündüz made a speech each.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ; “Art in fact is another world that describes the world we live in with different emotions”
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stating in his opening remarks that art, which is accepted as one of the methods of human self-expression that brings people closer to each other and in fact, it is the formation of common emotions, thoughts and values, stands out with the fact that it is another world that expresses the world we live in with different emotions". Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ also referred to the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk regarding art, "One of the most important veins of a nation without art is broken."

Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ; "Art is creativity, it enhances the appreciation of people and societies develop as much as the importance they attach to art."

Culture is generally defined as all of the material and moral accumulations of a society. Culture and art cannot be considered separately. Sometimes art affects the understanding cultures and sometimes cultures affect the understanding of art. In some societies, art is an important element that forms the culture of that society. In addition, art and society are two elements that affect each other. Art is accepted as the mirror of the society in which it develops and shapes. Society's thoughts, rules and tastes also seriously affect the formation of art. As Near East University, we will always remind that art is a source of inspiration and continue to create opportunities to bring art and people together."

“Near East University has combined science and art like two wings of a bird”
"As a result of the activities that started in education in 1978, we started higher education and training activities in 1988 and as of today, we have successfully left behind 40 years full of education. In addition to its achievements in education, Near East University has accelerated its activities in the field of art, combining science and art like two wings of a bird. As Near East University, we will add another new service to the Turkish Cypriot community on Thursday, February 20. We will launch the first model of GÜNSEL, B9, the first domestic and national electric car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus which is a project of Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel. The R&D studies of this car lasted 10 years with the participation of 109 engineers and the first prototype was launched in 2016. We are one step closer to seeing the first model of “GÜNSEL” on our roads in all its glory. In the meantime, the "J9" model of GÜNSEL will be introduced in the SUV segment on the same day. In addition to the innovative and technological interior design of the “J9”, its nationality will be reflected in the exterior design, indicating that it belongs to our country. Its mirrors designed to reflect the flag and colors of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“Günsel Art Museum opens its doors on 20 February in Dereboyu”
In the near future, a new one will be added to our existing museums, and will open its doors to art lovers in the Günsel showroom building in the Dereboyu district of Nicosia, outside of the Near East University campus for the first time. Günsel Art Museum, which is the product of Günsel's contribution to art and culture, the first domestic and national electric car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will meet with those who are passionate about art on 20 February. Giving importance to the integrity of the society, the Günsel Family will mediate the sharing of the cultural identity of Cyprus with the national and international art environment with the museum established. The museum, which will be opened in order to promote raising a future generation that loves art, will exhibit 700 valuable works of art from Cyprus and the Turkic World."

"In the five solo exhibitions today, we will see in total 101 new artworks exhibited in the solo exhibition titled 'Passenger' and consisting of 20 artworks of Kyrgyz artists Abazbek Apiyev, the exhibition titled "Solo Exhibition No2' consisting of 25 artworks of Azat İdirisov, Kazakh artist Karlygash Kanseyt's solo exhibition consisting of 21 artworks and titled 'Mood', solo exhibition titled 'Metamorphosis' and consisting of 18 artworks of Kuralay Amanzholova, and Yerzhan Tanayev's solo exhibition titled 'Jazz' consisting f 17 works."

Azat Idirisov; “The need to come here again and again will never fade away”
The Kyrgyz artist Azat Idirisov, started his speech by stating that he was here for the second time with his second solo exhibition titled "My personal exhibition no2", but the need to come here again and again will never fade away. Idirisov; “Here we can only think of creativity and forget all our routine life and our problems. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Suat Günsel for creating such a world. I want to thank everyone who was with me while I was here. I would like to say that I am very happy to meet such beautiful people and talented artists and I wish everyone a good time.”

Karlygash Kanseit; “Through this symposium, I exceeded the limits of my creativity and found my new friends.”
Kazakhstan artist Karlygash Kanseit; “I was excitedly waiting for this moment and I would like to state that I am very happy that I will open my solo exhibition. Through this symposium, I exceeded the limits of my creativity, found new friends, and obtained new information. For this comprehensive, enlightening and engaging project, I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Suat Günsel. I wish you inspiration for a healthy life, endless energy, new projects and successes. I wish my colleagues passion and joy."

Menteş Gündüz; “Near East University represents the TRNC duly...”
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Tourism, Culture and Sports, and Güzelyurt Deputy Menteş Gündüz, stating that it is not possible to make any achievements without dreams, he said; “The establishment of this university started with a dream. There were those who believed in this, there were those who did not believe, but this achievement you see today started with a dream and now it has become concrete. I thank them very much. Even though the TRNC is under isolation, Near East University, which has international representation in art, technology, culture, sports, education, represents the TRNC in the best possible way. I am very honored that valuable artists are also in Northern Cyprus. I would like to thank everyone who contributed and those who exhibited these arts and found an echo in the international arena."

Awards were presented, exhibition ribbons were cut…
Former Deputy Prime Minister Minister of Economy, Tourism, Culture and Sports, Güzelyurt Deputy Menteş Gündüz presented the "DOGDUBERK NURGAZIEV AWARD", given to promising young artists, to Kazakh artist Yerzhan Tanayev and Kyrgyz artist Abazbek Apiev; Silver Key Award to Kyrgyz artists Karlygash Kanseit and Azat Idirisov; and the Ulug Beg Award given to International Painting Artists within the scope of Alasia awards was presented to Kazakh Artist Kuralay Amanzholova. The exhibitions can be visited between 08.00-16.00 on weekdays until February 21, 2020, at the exhibition hall of the Near East University Hospital.
