Famous Turkish Cypriot Director Derviş Zaim met with Near East University Communication Faculty students

Famous Turkish Cypriot Director, who has made important productions of Turkish cinema such as Reverse Shoot in the Coffin, Elephants and Grass, Waiting for Heaven, Shadows and Faces. Derviş Zaim met with the students of the Near East University Faculty of Communication. Derviş Zaim, who participated in the workshop organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication Film Production and Publishing Department, watched the 1996 cult movie “Reverse Shoot in the Coffin” with the students, and then held a workshop on directing and the production process of the film.

At the same time, in addition to the students of the Faculty of Communication, students from many faculties and departments showed great interest in the workshop attended by the famous director Derviş Zaim who also lectures at the Near East University Faculty of Communication, Film Production and Publishing Department. The event was moderated by Near East University Communication Faculty Film Production and Publishing Department Head Assist. Prof. Dr. İzlem Kanlı and Mehmet Daowd, the student representative of the department.

Reminding that Derviş Zaim also lectures in their departments as a lecturer, Near East University Faculty of Communication Head of Film Production and Publishing Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Izlem Kanlı expressed her satisfaction with Dr. Derviş Zaim’s participation in their academic staff as one of the most important directors of Turkish Cinema.

Stating that students from many faculties and departments showed great interest in the event, which was held with the participation of Derviş Zaim, Assist. Prof. Dr. Izlem Kanlı also said that they will continue the workshops that will bring their students together with the masters and enable them to benefit from their experiences.

Emphasizing that they aim to make the art of the Near East University, with its museums founded and more than 400 exhibitions, a part of the daily lives of students and Turkish Cypriot people Near East University Faculty of Communication Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay said, “We were happy to bring together an esteemed director like Derviş Zaim with our students.” Thanking the faculty members of the Film Production and Publishing Department who contributed to the organization of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dolunay also presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Derviş Zaim at the end of the event.
