Famous actress Hazar Ergüçlü, who made a name with the characters she played in many TV series and movies, met with her fans at the Near East University Grand Library

Turkish Cypriot actress Hazar Ergüçlü has gained a great reputation and success with the characters she has played in many TV series and movies. Ergüçlü, who also starred in Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s film “Ahlat Tree”, which made an impact at the Cannes Film Festival, shared her career journey at the Near East University Grand Library Prof. Dr. Ümit Hassan Republic Hall with her fans.

Many academics, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, and students also showed great interest in the event.

In his speech at the opening of the event, Near East University Grand Library Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay emphasized that the Near East Enterprises Libraries are among the few libraries in the world with 4 million printed books and 850 million digital resources. Emphasizing that libraries play an important social role by hosting many cultural events, especially art exhibitions, while providing access to information, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dolunay said, “We are very happy to host Hazar Ergüçlü, one of the important actresses of our country, at our Grand Library. I would like to thank Mrs. Ergüçlü”.

After Ayhan Dolunay’s speech, Hazar Ergüçlü answered the questions of her fans by sharing her career journey moderated by Ahmet Can Temel, Director of the University of Kyrenia Grand Library.


Hazar Ergüçlü: “The films of Derviş Zaim and Nuri Bilgi Ceylan are the most important turning points in my career.”
Born in 1992, the young actress had her first professional experience with Derviş Zaim’s film “Shadows and Surrogates”, after meeting acting at the Nicosia Municipality Theatre. Saying that it was very important for her to start her professional acting career with a film by an important director like Derviş Zaim, Hazar Ergüçlü shared her acting adventure with the audience by talking about her TV series that was broadcast on Turkish television and on global platforms such as Netflix. Ergüçlü underlined that working in the cinema and TV series industry is a difficult job and stated that they have to work 16 hours a day, six days a week, and this is a difficult job. Ergüçlü sincerely answered the questions asked by students who plan to make a living with acting in the future.

Mentioning that she had the chance to work with Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Ergüçlü said that it is a very important experience to work with a director that many people look up to with envy. Ergüçlü, who said that “Ahlat Tree”, in which she also took part and received great acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival, was one of the most important turning points in her career, pointed out that she wanted to focus on theater as well as TV series and movie acting in her career.
