Meeting with basketball fans at the Near East University RA Sports Hall, Anadolu Efes’s Turkish Cypriot basketball player Erten Gazi met with great interest. The 25-year-old player, who won consecutive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championships with his team in the two seasons he played for, shared the process of starting basketball, how he carried out his academic career and professional basketball player career together, and his experiences with his followers.

The participants, most of whom were basketball enthusiasts, had the chance to chat with Erten Gazi one-to-one. After the conversation, Gazi also had the children do basketball training.

From Güzelyurt to EuroLeague championship
Born in Güzelyurt in 1997, Erten Gazi started playing basketball in 2004 at Güzelyurt Basketball Specialization Sports Club. Having championships in the TRNC and representing the TRNC in abroad, Gazi completed primary and secondary school in Güzelyurt. After completing the 9th year at the high school, he joined Anadolu Efes family in Istanbul in the 2012-13 season. He experienced the Turkish championship in star and youth teams here. He played in Turkey U16 and U18 National Teams. In 2015, he experienced the U18 European Championship in Greece and the World High School Championship in France in the same year.

Between 2015 and 2020, he continued his education and sports life at Chicago DePaul University and New York Fordham University in the NCAA, the US university league. Erten Gazi, a communications and marketing graduate, joined Anadolu Efes as a professional player in the 2020-21 season.

Erten Gazi experienced the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship with Anadolu Efes in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, and the ING Basketball Super League championship in the 2020-21 season and the Turkish Cup championship. Gazi, who is also a Turkish A National Team player, still continues his professional sports life at Anadolu Efes Sports Club in Istanbul.
