The 3rd International Medical Student Congress “Habitat Cyprus 2025” will be held between April 10-12 at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center.

The 3rd International Medical Student Congress, where doctors of future will get together for environmental awareness, is going to be hosted by Near East University. The congress, themed “Habitat Cyprus 2025”, which not only contributes to the academic development of medical students but also questions the connection between nature and humans, aims to open the door to a new understanding of medicine shaped by environmental awareness. The “International Medical Student Congress”, which will be organized for the third time this year in collaboration with the Near East University Faculty of Medicine and the Dean of Students, will be held between April 10-12 at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Hall with the theme “Habitat Cyprus 2025”.

The congress, which is also supported by the Near East University Medical Students Association (NEUMSA) and the Northern Cyprus Medical Students Association (MSANC), will bring together many medical students and academicians from all over the world. The main theme of the congress, which will be held for the third time, will be “habitat” this year. The congress will question the concept of habitat and deeply examine the relationship between nature and humans. The effects of the natural environment and the acquired environment on medicine and humanity will be examined from various perspectives. The congress, where concepts such as “creating a livable environment” and “homeland for nature” will be discussed, will focus on the intersection of these two concepts.

The three-day congress will be concluded with six sessions, two workshops and two poster presentations. Participants will increase their scientific knowledge by making presentations in different disciplines of medical science, while also contributing to the development of medical education worldwide. On the last day of the congress, trips to Nicosia and Kyrenia will be organized for the participants.

Chair of Congress Dr. Gökay Olgun: “Actively participating in scientific meetings that will be an inseparable part of our professional lives in the future during our student years makes us more professionally equipped individuals.”

Chair of Congress Dr. Gökay Olgun said that the theme of ‘Human and Habitat’ will be addressed in the congress through the relationship between humans and nature. Stating that the concept of habitat means creating a living space for humans, Dr. Olgun stated that this has the quality of a ‘homeland’ for nature, and said, “We want to bring these two concepts together and question how humans transform the environment while creating their own habitat.”

Reminding that the International Medical Student Congress is being organized for the third time this year, Dr. Gökay Olgun said, “Such congresses are not only a place for medical students to share scientific knowledge, they are also a versatile experience where they develop their communication, teamwork and presentation skills. Actively participating in scientific meetings, which will be an integral part of our professional lives in the future, during our student years makes us more professionally equipped individuals. Thus, I believe that Habitat Cyprus 2025 will be an inspiring and transformative experience for all participants.”
