Diabetes Camp organized by Near East University and Turkish Cypriot Diabetes Association brought together 60 participants at Mimoza Beach Hotel

The “Diabetes Camp” organized by Near East University DESAM Research Institute, Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences and Turkish Cypriot Diabetes Association in collaboration was completed with intense participation at Mimoza Beach Hotel. The camp, where 60 participants experienced diabetes management for three days, enabled diabetic individuals to receive direct training from experts on disease management and learn how to integrate this information into their daily lives.

Participants received training on subjects such as diabetes management, physiotherapy and nutrition under the guidance of experts from Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences. Thanks to the interactive structure of the camp, participants had the opportunity to share their own experiences and interact with other individuals experiencing similar health problems. They also experienced a more efficient learning process by communicating one-on-one with experts.

Education and entertainment came together at the Diabetes Camp!

The Diabetes Camp, organized as part of “Public Health Week,” not only provided participants with theoretical knowledge, but also provided practical opportunities for the application of this knowledge in daily life. During the camp, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuba Yerlikaya, member of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University, addressed the subject of “Diabetes and Physiotherapy,” while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hoca, a member of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics made a presentation on “Diabetes and Nutrition.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müjgan Kuşi provided the participants with detailed information about the importance of food consumption in diabetes management. In addition, Dietician Gizem Oymacı explained how to provide a balanced diet for blood sugar control with her presentation titled “Glycemic Index and Meal Planning Guide.” Podiatrist Kayra Besim shared detailed methods for protecting the foot health of individuals with diabetes with her presentation titled “Foot Care and Our Health.” In addition to the educational program, the participants socialized and enjoyed entertainment at Mimoza Beach Hotel.
