The International Economy, Finance and Trade Summit, MUSIAD EXPO 2020, organized by MUSIAD every two years, was opened its doors to visitors on 18 November. Near East University attended MUSIAD EXPO 2020 with TRNC's domestic car GÜNSEL and intensive care breathing apparatus developed by Near East University Innovation Center engineers. The intensive care respirator, which has reached the mass production stage, will be produced under the "IKAS Medical" brand, which is the brand of the products developed by Near East University for the health sector.
MUSIAD EXPO 2020 Trade Fair, which is held physically and online as a hybrid in accordance with the pandemic rules and TSE COVID 19 Safe Service standards in TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Istanbul, is held in 10 halls on an area of 70 thousand square meters. Representing more than 40 thousand companies. MUSIAD EXPO 2020 Trade Fair aims to host 100 thousand visitors between 18-21 November.
Especially in these days when the second wave of COVID-19 is encountered all over the world, the "IKAS Medical Intensive Care Respirator" stand became one of the most popular stands of MUSIAD EXPO 2020. It was welcomed by the leading actors of the healthcare industry, including hospital managers and medical companies. Distributorship negotiations were also held for the post-mass production sales process.
The respirator, of which software, hardware and design were completely made by Near East University, was made ready for use after a 6-month research and development process. In these days, when the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is encountered all over the world, the intensive care capacities of countries are of vital importance to reduce the loss of lives due to the pandemic. Respirators stand out as the most important equipment in fighting COVID-19 to keep patients in need of respiratory support alive.
The fully functional respirator developed by the engineers of Near East University was developed to be used in the intensive care and emergencies of hospitals. Thus, initially including Cyprus and Turkey, aims to increase the capacity of intensive care demand from the country.
Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: Mass production of respiratory device will begin before 2020.
Expressing his gratitude for the interest the respirator received in MUSIAD EXPO 2020, which is vital in the fight against COVID-19, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said that the mass production of the respirator, which was developed by Near East University engineers and made ready for mass production, will begin before 2020.
Ahmet Çağman: Respirator successfully passed simulation tests
Stating that respiratory devices directly affect patient health and there is no room for error, Ahmet Çağman, Director of the Center for Innovation and Information Technologies of Near East University, emphasized that the respirator, which they made ready for mass production, passed all the tests performed under doctor control in the simulated environment and proved its success.
The respirator works silently with high pressure efficiency, high flow capacity and low power consumption with a specially designed engine fitted with a new generation turbine and special control software. Since it consists of fewer moving parts compared to the previous generation ventilators, the risk of failure is lower and the maintenance cost is lower.
