The Near East University Faculty of Dentistry’s 2024-2025 Academic Year “White Coat Ceremony” was held enthusiastically at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center. Dentists of future wore their white coats on Dentist’s Day.

The opening speeches of the ceremony, which was attended by students, their families and academics, were made by Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy and Near East University Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy.

Following the speeches, Near East University dentistry students studying in Northern Cyprus, who came from many countries around the world, wore their white coats from their instructors and made their families very proud.

Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy: “The foundation of medicine is science, reason and ethical values.”
Addressing the students by making the opening speech of the ceremony, Near East University Vice President Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy said, “The white coats you are wearing today are not just clothes; they are symbols of ethical values ​​and the responsibility to serve humanity. You have an educational process ahead of you where you will be strengthened with knowledge, experience and professional equipment. You should know that you will always have a strong academic staff by your side during this process.”

Stating that students will be prepared for the future in the strongest way, Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy said, “Medicine does not only aim to transfer knowledge, it also aims to provide critical thinking, openness to innovation and commitment to ethical values. As you progress on this path with determination, you should not forget to be modest in your successes. Remember, the foundation of medicine is science, reason and ethical values.”

Starting his speech by celebrating Dentistry Day, Near East University Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy said, “Dentistry is a profession with roots that go back to the depths of human history, and has a bright future as well as a past. This year, we are proud to celebrate the 116th year of contemporary dentistry education in our country.”

Stating that the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry provides education with an educational approach equipped with innovations offered by developing technology and in the light of contemporary science, Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy said, “As we progress on this path, we aim to provide the best education to our students and raise them as competent individuals in their professions.” Addressing the students, Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy also said, “Dear students, you are starting your professional journey with these white coats, taking on a great responsibility on your shoulders. This profession is one of the finest ways to serve humanity. I hereby wish you a successful educational life and professional career.”
