Virus was detected in 71% of male Individuals.
In the study conducted by the Near East University COVID-19 PCR Laboratory regarding the local contamination of the coronavirus, it was revealed that asymptomatic cases increase in the society, especially among young people.
52 positive cases were detected in the tests performed at the Near East University COVID-19 PCR Laboratory on samples taken at the Near East University Hospital between 13 July and 10 September 2020. 37 of the positive cases were male (71%), 15 of them were female (29%), and the average age was 31. According to the results of 11 thousand 660 tests performed in this period, the rate of positivity was found to be 4 per thousand. Although the detected cases show signs of asymptomatic or mild disease, it has been noted that these people carry a high amount of virus, and therefore the risk of transmission is high.
Between1 July- 9 September 2020, in the tests carried out on persons who entered the country by air and sea routes from Turkey 65 people have been found positive. 46 of the positive cases were found to be males (70%) and 19 females (30%). According to the results of 31 thousand 523 tests performed during this period, the rate of positivity was found to be 2 per thousand.
Virus Infection average age is 31...
In the tests performed at the Near East University COVID-19 PCR Laboratory, it was found out that the average age of COVID-19 positive cases is 31. It was noted that the rate of young people among those caught in coronavirus is increasing and this rate is remarkable.
In the statement, it was emphasized that young people should not underestimate the disease and that masks must be used, social distance and hygiene rules must be followed against the disease which may not reveal any symptoms.
Attention must be paid to asymptomatic spread ...
Near East University COVID-19 PCR Laboratory experts pointed out that people who are infected with the coronavirus but do not show symptoms are at high risk of transmitting the disease, and noted that the risk of the rapid spread of the virus in the society is high by asymptomatic people who do not realize that they have the disease or those who survive the disease.
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: "Precaution is a must among young people who can spread out the disease with no or mild symptoms and become infectious..."
Near East University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said that they carried out intensive studies at the Near East University COVID-19 PCR Laboratory and determined that, according to the test results, the rate of young people among those suffering from the coronavirus is gradually increasing. Stating that asymptomatic transmission is a very critical finding and one of the most important features about the pandemic, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ stated that the risk of transmission is high, especially for those who carry the virus asymptomatically or those who recover after a mild process.
Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “It is very likely that there will be cases that increase gradually among young people, who do not know about their disease, who have no symptoms and circulate in the society. Therefore, it is imperative not to let go of the measure. We can turn this process into our favor by paying attention to social distance, use of masks and hygiene, which are 3 important measures to prevent contamination. We must fulfill our responsibility both for sake of ourselves and for the society in a selfless way."
