Consisting of 26 paintings of masterpieces that exclusively prepared for Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the painting exhibition, which reveals the extraordinary vision of 10 Albanian artists not only through strong and contrast color over the representational or realistic values retained by impressionism but also through abstract figures emphasizing the meaning behind the forms and colors, was opened by Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu, the Minister of Labor and Social Security..

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the opening ceremony was realized at the Exhibition Hall of Atatürk Culture and Congress Center (AKKM) with the participation of the Labor and Social Security Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu, Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel, UBP Deputy Secretary General Ahmet Savaşan, vice rectors, faculty members, artists and guests.

The opening remarks of the exhibition were delivered respectively by NEU vice Rector Professor Tamer Şanlıdağ, Albanian artist Parid Dule and TRNC Labor and Social Security Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu.

Professor Dr. Sanlidag: “Art is not only a reflection of societies but also provides them with opportunity to question themselves…”
Underlining the crucial role of art in social life, NEU vice Rector Professor Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that with the formation of modernism associated with ideal visions of human life and society, art was not only a reflection of society but also a means allowing societies to question themselves.

Expressing that modernism in art rejected established styles and adopted impressionism, reality and symbolism to reflect scenes of everyday modern life by using rapid brush marks and colors, vice Rector Professor Şanlıdağ stated that modern art museums had a significant role in determining what could be considered as modern art. "Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts unites the Turkic World in this geography as a unique project that brings together artists from different countries and provides freedom in creativity" noted he.

Underlining Near East University's commitment to transform all scientific data acquired from academic studies and R&D activities into benefit of the society within the 4th generation university model, vice Rector Professor Şanlıdağ states that as a science-producing university, Near East University systematically keeps the doors of all her different fully-equipped research centers and high-end laboratories open to all researchers for their studies.

Scientific Publications Will Be Online on Social Media for Researchers...Near East Scientists on Social Media Net Has Been Launched.
NEU vice Rector Şanlıdağ delivered information about their scientific activities and accomplishments: "Near East University continues to increase the number of her projects and publications day by day. In the last three years, 380 research projects were accepted with the own resources of our university; 120 of them were completed and 250 of them are still in progress. As of 2018, more than 1200 articles of faculty members of Near East University were published by prestigious journals scanned by Web of Science and Scopus, the largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature covering tens of thousands research topics across all scientific disciplines. Considering the number of publications, Near East University ranks the 3rd place among universities in Turkey and top among TRNC universities, we feel the right pride of this success. Increasing the number of our annual publications and our quality is among our most important goals. In order to allow wider masses to access the publications of Near East University, we are realizing a first in our country; may be a first in the world. ın order to enable wider populations to access the results of scientific studies conducted by Near East University researchers, Near East University Science Network - Near East Scientists on Social Media (NeuSciSocMed) has been launched and it is accessible on Facebook and Instagram. The Science Network will be an academic social network that will facilitate access to publications from the Near East and increase collaboration among researchers. In addition, it will enable academicians to be aware of the latest scientific publications related to their fields and to enable academicians working on the same subject to enrich their studies and find solutions to research problems” said he.

Speaking on behalf of the Albanian artists, Parid Dule expressed their happiness of being hosted in Cyprus. "I would like to express our gratitude for providing us opportunity to realize and share this exhibition with you. We have been in Cyprus for the first time. We are very happy to be here and leave our marks via our art. That's why we will never forget it. We thank you for inviting us here for your interest and hospitality" noted he.

Minister Sucuoğlu: “Near East University takes steps opening up to the world on behalf of the TRNC…”
Expressing that he had attended almost 15 exhibition organized by Near East University so far, Minister Sucuoğlu stated that he was in an extra excitement of participating in the 90th of the exhibitions adding that he was happy to be there.

Indicating that Stating that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts had set a foot on an ambitious path in terms of art and that the Near East University would make a name for herself in the field of art, Minister Sucuoğlu said that the artists, who came here to contribute to the museum with their valuable artworks, had the opportunity to get acquainted with TRNC and meet Turkish Cypriots. "When they return to their countries, they tell about their experiences and the existence of Turkish Cypriots and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. To my point of view, the remarks indicating the positive opinions of artists on our people and TRNC are the most effective way of face-to-face promotion of our people and country. In this sense, beyond the paintings exhibited in the museum, this process contributes greatly to the promotion of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Regarding this issue, Near East University has been doing her part far better. We have a long process ahead to reach the targeted 20 thousand of works. I hope that this promotion net will expand with the artists participating in this project in the future” said he.

Touching upon the 55th anniversary of the epic Erenköy Resistance, which marks an important milestone in Turkish Cypriots' struggle for freedom and existence, Minister Sucuoğlu states that Erenköy is characterized as Çanakkale of Cyprus. Turkish Cypriots had covered an arduous path to reach these days. The efforts exerted and concrete steps covered by Near East University towards breaking our shell and opening up to the world via a broad range of activities such as education, health, science, congresses and conferences, sports, art, exhibitions and museums are clear indicators demonstrating from whence we came and where we have reached. The growth of Near East University will add momentum to the acceleration of the growth and promotion of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I owe a debt of gratitude mainly to the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel for his devoted efforts towards promoting our country across the globe" noted he.

Following the speeches, a certificate of appreciation was presented to each Albanian artist by Labor and Social Security Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu. Then the ribbon was cut and the exhibition was opened for visits. The exhibition of Albanian artists will be open for visits at the Exhibition Hall of Atatürk Culture and Congress Center (AKKM) between 08:00-16:00 hours on weekdays till 23 August 2019.
