Cemal Özyiğit, Minister of National Education and Culture, visited the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and the Exhibition of Republic at the Cyprus Art Center.

The Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and the Exhibition of Republic at the Cyprus Art Center located in the Museums Area of Near East University on the university campus was visited by the Minister of National Education and Culture, Cemal G. Özyiğit.

According to the press info released by the Near East University Press and Public Relations Directorate, the National Education and Culture Minister Cemal G. Ozyigit was accompanied by Near East University Board of Trustees President Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün, Curator of the Exhibition of Republic, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design during his visit.

Within the scope of the visit, Cemal G. Özyiğit, Minister of National Education and Culture, who visited the Exhibition of Republic consisting of the 103 Works of the 38 Artists of the Near East University at the Cyprus Art Center located at the Atatürk Culture and Congress Center, was informed about the artworks.

Afterwards, Özyiğit visited the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts obtained information about the museum and the artworks.

During the visit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel emphasized the importance of the activities of Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts in the recognition of the Turkish Cypriot culture and art in the international platforms, the importance of taking the art and culture as well as preserving the works of art.

Minister of National Education and Culture Cemal G. Özyiğit made a statement in the museum: "Near East University can be an example not only for our country but for our region, and especially for the Turkic world. It is really hosting and exhibition very important and meaningful artworks.

While it is reflecting the emotions of the artists, it is also also exhibiting the important works of the artists of TURKSOY member countries of the Turkic world. I believe that the Near East University has fulfilled a very important mission with this museum. When the new building of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art opens up, it will surely turn to a much larger art centre and will transform into a museum that the world will envy. I would also like to thank them for hosting these meaningful works and bringing them together with the audience and art enthusiasts. In this respect, I congratulate Suat İ. Günsel and everyone who contributed to foundation of these art centres.

At the end of the visit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, President of the Board of Trustees of NEU, presented a painting to the Minister of National Education and Culture Cemal G. Özyiğit in memory of the day.
