Enterprises Libraries, which serve the entire public at the Near East University, University of Kyrenia and Near East Yeniboğaziçi campuses, celebrated the 58th Library Week with cultural and art talks, classical music concerts and book reading events. Providing access to more than 4 million printed books and more than 850 million digital resources, Enterprises Libraries serve the entire public throughout the year in Nicosia, Kyrenia and Yeniboğaziçi.

Near East University Grand Library, which is the Central Library of the Turkic World
The Near East University Grand Library, the largest library in the TRNC and Cyprus, selected as the Central Library of the Turkic World in 2007 It serves as a world-class cultural and information access center with 4 lecture halls for 1,000 people, a theater for 350 people, a cafeteria for 600 people, study desks for 600 people and an exhibition hall. The Near East University Grand Library also forms the center of the Near East Enterprises Libraries, which were formed together with the University of Kyrenia Grand Library, which started to serve in December 2020, and the Near East Yenibogazici Campus Grand Library, which will be put into service within a short time.


Information is all over the TRNC with the University of Kyrenia Grand Library and the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus Grand Library!
The University of Kyrenia Grand Library, which was opened in December 2020 as the largest library in the country after the Near East University Grand Library, the largest library in Cyprus, meets an important need of the region with 1 million printed books and 850 million digital resources. The University of Kyrenia Grand Library, serving in its new 6-storey building of 8,750 square meters, provides every opportunity for the cultural development of the region and the country with its amphitheater for 350 people, 3 halls and classrooms for 120 people, meeting rooms, 20 individual and group private study rooms, study desks for 250 people and an exhibition hall, together with the University of Kyrenia Congress and Culture Palace.

Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus Grand Library, the third largest library in the TRNC, will be put into service soon. The Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus Grand Library integrates knowledge, culture and art with the Halil Günsel Congress Center and exhibition halls located on the campus.


Access to the world with 850 million digital resources
The Enteprises Libraries have more than 4 million printed resources in their inventory and provide access to more than 850 million online resources. Online resources that users can access from anywhere, create an information window from the TRNC to the world.

The libraries provide access to many prominent international databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, Wiley Online Library, DynaMed, EBSCO, Taylor & Francis, and Springer. The World eBook Library, which has recently started trial access and provides full-text access to more than 4 million resources, attracts great attention from users.


Book meets art: Rare Art Collections
The Rare Book Collections in the Near East University Grand Library, University of Kyrenia Grand Library and the Near East Yenibogaziçi Campus Grand Library that will be put into service in a short time brings together a manuscript collection consisting mainly of Ottoman, Arabic and Persian works, and rare works in Turkish, Greek, Russian and different languages. The works that can be examined in company with the library staff have a great richness.

The first drafts of Nazım Hikmet’s poem from Sofia, written in 1957, bearing his wet signature, as well as manuscripts dating back to 1900s and rare printed works in the private collection of Sheikh Nazım el-Kıbrisi, are also included in this collection.

Also in the collection are both volumes of the first known Chinese grammar book (Mvsevm Sinicum / Museum Sinicum – SPE 5533 / SPE 5534), written by Theophilus Siegfried Bayer (1694-1738) in two volumes in 1730. The first trigonometric map of Cyprus, also known as Lord Kitchener’s map, completed by measuring with chains, “Kitchener’s Survey of Cyprus” with 15 sheets, is exhibited in the rare works collection with its 1885 edition.

Rare collections of works from literature to art, from science to history; The National Archives of the United Kingdom (1878-1975) are complemented by separate private rooms with important resources such as the CMC Archive.

Apart from the archives opened to access, each of the Genesis Libraries also has a special Cyprus section. In this section, there are many works from the first books written on Cyprus to the books written today. This feature gives the Enteprises Libraries a National Library identity.

Prominent names in Turkish Cypriot history and culture live in the Genesis Libraries!
The names of prominent people in Turkish Cypriot history and culture live in the Near East University Grand Library. Near East University Faculty of Communication Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atila Turk’s room and private rooms of Kutlu Adalı, Ahmet C. Gazioğlu, Hakkı Atun, Vergi Bedevi, Eşber Serakıncı, Servet Sami Dedeçay, prominent politicians, thinkers, scientists and writers of the Turkish Cypriot Community, on the one hand, host the personal books of these esteemed names, and on the other hand, they keep their names alive.

There are also special rooms in the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus Grand Library named after İsmail Bozkurt, who donated his personal library of 30 thousand books to the Enterprises Libraries.


Universal collaborations: American Corner
The American Corner is located in the Near East University Grand Library for the first and only time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as in the leading libraries in the world.

The opening of the American Corner, which was moved to the new and larger section of the Near East University Grand Library with the preparations started in 2021, was held in February 2022 with the participation of the US Ambassador to Cyprus.

In the American Corner, where wide technological opportunities are provided; iMac and PC computer section, area with special tools for presentations and demonstrations, 3D printer, virtual reality glasses, GoPro cameras, various robots and equipment to acquire coding knowledge, and free use for users of all age groups including 8 years and older for research and development is provided.

Preparations continue for the American Corner to become operational in the University of Kyrenia Grand Library and the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Campus Grand Library, which are among the Enterprises Libraries.

Enterprises Libraries, which provide access to more than 4 million printed books and more than 850 million digital resources in Nicosia, Kyrenia and Yeniboğaziçi, while connecting the TRNC to the world with information sources, the collections, congress and cultural centers and exhibition hall, continue to serve the public free of charge.
