Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Deputy Head of Graphic Design Department, Dr. Raif M. Kızıl, was awarded the “Excellent Trainer” award for the success of his students at the 7th International Environmental Protection Art Creation Competition (EPAPCC) organized by the American Association for Cultural and Art Exchange (ACAE).

Dr. Raif M. Kızıl, who went to China to teach students with a special invitation from Jianghan University in 2023, shared his experiences in graphic design and typography with Chinese students through the training he gave there. Giving training on graphic design principles and effective western typography, Kızıl directed his students to create effective projects that draw attention to environmental problems.


10 designs of Chinese students who received training from Kızıl were ranked in ACAE
Students of Dr. Kızıl, Zhu Xinyu, Zhang Jia, Jiang Xiaolong, Zhao Youyi, Dai Jingwen, Li Mujun, Zhou Shiyao, Liu Jiaying and Le Jingyi attended the 7th International Environmental Protection Art Creation Competition held by the American Culture and Arts, with 10 poster designs All 10 poster designs made by Kızıl’s students achieved great success in the competition and were among the top three in different categories. One of the works won the special jury award.

This success achieved in the competition, which aims to bring out innovative ideas by addressing the issues of environmental protection, sustainability and the harmonious coexistence of humans and the environment from various perspectives, brought the “Excellent Trainer” award to Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Deputy Head of Graphic Design Department, Dr. Raif M. Kızıl.

Dr. Kızıl said that he received an invitation from Jianghan University and organized a training program in China due to his studies at the Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Dr. Raif M. Kızıl said, “I had the pleasure of representing my country and my university in China in the best possible way. The success of my Chinese students in the competition held by the American Culture and Art Exchange Association reinforced my pleasure.”

Emphasizing that they aim to contribute to the creation of sustainable cities and societies by providing students with the ability to make designs that are not only aesthetic but also sensitive to environmental and social problems, Dr. Kızıl said, “Interacting with different societies and cultures is not only instructive but also creates inspiring results in artistic production. The training program I organized in China was very productive in this aspect.”
