Bringing together 50 artworks of 20 artists, the group exhibition “Fine Arts April Exhibition” was opened by President Ersin Tatar at the Exhibition Hall of the Near East University Hospital

The “Fine Arts April Exhibition”, exclusively prepared for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts by 20 academician artists from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University, was opened by President Ersin Tatar at the Exhibition Hall of the Near East University Hospital.

The group exhibition, which can be visited free of charge until June 24, brings together 50 works of art, consisting of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, stained glass and prints.

The opening speeches of the 412th exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts were made by President Ersin Tatar and Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenc.

President Ersin Tatar: “Every exhibition that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts opens is a mark to be put on the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Near East University.”
Speaking at the opening of the “Fine Arts April Exhibition”, President Ersin Tatar reminded that he participated in many exhibitions inaugurated by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and said, “I attend the opening of every exhibition I am invited. Because I believe that every exhibition opened is a mark to be put on the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Near East University.”

Emphasizing that Near East University always values ​​art and artists, President Tatar said, “Near East University welcomes many artists from different countries. Being next to art and the artist, it brings all these important and valuable works together with us. The resulting works reflect our art, culture, emotions; In other words, it transfers our values to future generations.”

Emphasizing that art is universal, President Tatar said, “Art is universal and is a service to humanity. Art is the best answer we give to the world, despite all the wars, embargoes and restrictions. President Tatar concluded his speech by congratulating everyone who contributed to the Fine Arts April Exhibition.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “No social rise that is not fed by science and art can reach the power to leave permanent traces.”
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ emphasized how important science and art are for societies and said, “No social rise that is not fed by science and art can reach the power to leave permanent traces. For this reason, there are many examples of states that existed in history and then disappeared and failed to leave a trace today.”

Stating that Near East University is productive not only in art but also in all fields, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ pointed out that in the “World’s Best Universities” ranking announced by AD Scientific Index, Near East University ranked 552nd among 15 thousand universities worldwide, and reminded that in Europe, it ranked 230th among 3,126 universities and is among the top 250 universities in Europe.

Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “In the world ranking, which is also announced by AD Scientific Index, created according to the research areas of academicians; Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Can Başer from our university ranked 58th in his field, Prof. Dr. Derin Orhon 101st, Prof. Dr. Isa Dumanoglu 207th, Prof. Dr. Kerem Can Koçak is the 229th, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özsöz 353rd, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış 357th, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin ranked 685th and was among the top thousand academics in their fields in the world.”

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said in his speech, “Art is the only way not to get into the mud of the world. The greatness of art and the artist is hidden in his insanely creative power and endless quests that push the limits.

Stating that every artist and work of art has a different language and story, Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said, “Art is an endless sea. The masters of art are numbered”. Stating that all artists benefit from history and culture, Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç said, “Today’s artist benefits not only from his own culture and art, but from the entire heritage of the earth. Because cultural and artistic heritage is universal, its doors are open to all artists.” Aygenç invited all art lovers to see the “Fine Arts April Exhibition”, which is open to visitors free of charge, at the Near East University Hospital Exhibition Hall until June 24, saying “Do not be without art in order to keep the dark spots of your life bright”.
