Bengisu Yorulmaz and Bayram Yağız Abacı, NCADS member students of Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, attended the IADS Midterm Congress in Tunisia and represented dentistry students studying in Northern Cyprus.

Near East University Faculty of Dentistry students Bengisu Yorulmaz and Bayram Yağız Abacı, members of the Northern Cyprus Association of Dental Students (NCADS), attended the 70th International Association of Dental Students (IADS) Semester Congress held in Tunisia in February and represented dentistry students studying in Northern Cyprus.

Bengisu Yorulmaz and Bayram Yağız Abacı went to Tunisia with the support of the Dean of Students of Near East University. At the congress attended by representatives from 14 countries, all dentistry students in the world voted on the decisions taken. In the voting held at the General Assembly, it was decided to make changes to the regulations and statutes of the International Association of Dental Students. In the voting, the current president of IADS, Lamis Elsheikh, handed over his position to Deniz Devrim Kaya.

Student exchange program will be launched between Russia and Northern Cyprus
At the 70th Association of International Dental Students Midterm Congress, plans were also made for the student exchange program to be launched between Russia and Northern Cyprus for dentistry students. It was unanimously decided that the 71st congress, which was held in Tunisia this year, will be held in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, next year.

Reminding that Near East University students, especially dentistry, medicine, veterinary medicine and pharmacy students, are integrated into the world with the international student unions of which they are members, Near East University Student Dean Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz emphasized that Bengisu Yorulmaz and Bayram Yağız Abacı, members of the Northern Cyprus Association of Dentistry Students (NCADS), represent not only their universities in Tunisia but also all dentistry students studying in Northern Cyprus.

“We will continue to support our students in every step they take,” said Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz, and added “I would like to thank Bengisu Yorulmaz and Bayram Yağız Abacı for representing our country in this important congress that concerns all dentistry students in the world.”

Northern Cyprus Association of Dental Students (NCADS) Advisor, Research Assistant Dt. İsmet Ersalcı emphasized the importance of the decisions taken at the 70th International Association of Dental Students Midterm Congress. Stating that plans were made to organize a student exchange program between Russia and Northern Cyprus at the congress, Dt. İsmet Ersalcı said, “Our union member friends represented our university and our country with great success. We would like to thank the Near East University administration and the Dean of Students for always supporting us in participating in the meetings organized by the International Association of Dental Students, of which we are a part, in different countries of the world.”
