Near East University, continuing to strengthen its pioneering vision in technology and artificial intelligence, pioneered the policy development and strategy development processes in the field of artificial intelligence with the “Artificial Intelligence Policy Development Workshop
Near East University’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Science and the Digital Education and Informatics Unit hosted a meaningful workshop aimed at developing policies and strategies in the field of artificial intelligence. The “Artificial Intelligence Policy Development Workshop,” which brought together numerous academics from Turkey and the TRNC, featured expert stakeholders and participants discussing the future of artificial intelligence.
The workshop began with an introductory video by Prof. AI. DUX, an artificial intelligence-based academic developed by Near East University and actively used in education. The workshop discussed policy and strategy development methods in artificial intelligence. Discussions on education, technological developments, and their effective use emphasized the importance of planning and strategies, while also highlighting the need for policy development for sustainability and maximum efficiency. The workshop, which attracted a large turnout, was organized with the contributions of Prof. Dr. Fadi Al-Turjman, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics; Prof. Dr. Sezer Kanbul, Director of the Digital Education and Informatics Unit (DEBİM); Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay, Deputy Director of DEBİM; and Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay, Educational Technologies Coordinator.

Participants in the workshop included Prof. Dr. Yüksel Göktaş, Vice Rector of Atatürk University; Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, Vice Rector of Kyrenia University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kadri Bürüncük, President of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority; Feridun Üstün, Turkish Informatics Association Representative; Enver Mamülcü, President of the Business People Association; Günay Kibrit, President of the Turkish Cypriot Orthopedic Disabled Association; and Ahmet Akdeniz, President of the Presidential Disability Committee. The workshop, which was held with the contributions of academics, unit representatives, and students, focused on projects related to the development of artificial intelligence technology and strategic policy formulation. Participants highlighted the importance of effective use of artificial intelligence in education and public policies, and emphasized the need to increase cooperation in this field between Turkey and the TRNC.
