Applications have started for the “Documentary Photo Contest” organized by the Near East University Communication Faculty Journalism Department for high school and university students. The contest, which aims to pave the way for students to express their view of the world with the language of photography, consists of two categories, high school and university.

The deadline for applications to the contest organized with the themes of “Cultural Heritage and History”, “Environment and Human”, “Freedom, Democracy and Human Rights”, “Human, Animal and Space” (Portrait), “Black and White” is April 30, 2023.


Twenty-five finalist photographs will be exhibited at the university and high school branches.
The jury of the contest, of which winners will be announced at the award ceremony to be held on May 17, 2023, consists of academician and photographer Aykan Özener, documentary producer and press photographer Coşkun Aral, documentary photographer and battlefield photojournalist Emin Özmen, and academics and photographers Gazi Yüksel and Mert Yusuf Özlük. At the end of the competition, 25 photographs from each category will be exhibited. On the other hand, the photographs deemed worthy of the exhibition will also be published on the website of the Near East University Faculty of Communication.

Applications will be accepted digitally until April 30.
Candidates who want to participate in the Documentary Photo Contest organized by the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Communication of Near East University must submit their applications by the end of the working day on April 30, 2023, at the latest.

The contest, to which applications will be digitally made via the https:/filmfreeway.com/YDUGAZETECILIKBELGESELFOTOGRAFYARISMASI internet address, will be open to associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in the university category. University students will be required to present their student certificates at the time of application. In the high school category, all high school students between the ages of 15-18 can participate in the contest.
