Near East University will bring academic success and art together on the same stage with the Academic Promotion Ceremony and Fine Arts April Exhibition to be held on May 21.
Near East University will host two important events honoring academic success and art. In the first part of the event to be held on Wednesday, May 21 at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center, the 2024-2025 Academic Year Academic Promotion Ceremony will be held with the participation of President Ersin Tatar. The ceremony will start at 16:00 and the opening of the “Fine Arts April Exhibition” will be held at 17:30.
With the Academic Promotion Ceremony, over 100 Near East University academics who have earned the titles of assistant professor, associate professor and professor will receive their promotion certificates. The “April Fine Arts Exhibition”, which will open at 17:30 at the Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall, will bring together over 50 works of art lovers. The “April Fine Arts Exhibition”, which is the 473rd exhibition of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, will bring together paintings, sculptures, ceramics and printmaking works by award-winning academic artists.

Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ drew attention to the fact that science and art, which are the fundamental dynamics of social development, develop together with a strong balance under the roof of the university, and said, “We are very pleased to bring together our academics who add value to our university with their academic achievements and our artists who make a difference in the field of art in the same environment.”

Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University and Director of GÜNSEL Art Museum, who curated the April Fine Arts Exhibition, expressed his pleasure that the works of academic artists from different disciplines will meet with the audience.
Prof. Dr. Ergün said, “We will bring together the original and impressive works of our award-winning academic artists in a wide range from painting to sculpture, ceramics to printmaking with art lovers.”, and emphasized that art gains a much stronger power of expression when combined with academic production. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün also referred to the “Academic Promotion Ceremony” to be held on the same day and said, “We will also crown academic success with our exhibition that we will open on this special day.”
