Academic Member of the Near East University Faculty of Law Nezihe Tekman made a presentation at the 16th International Association of Consumer Law Conference held in Brazil during 16-19 July 2017, themed as “Consumer Rights and Economical Development” and her research has been selected to be published in the 25th yeare special edition print of the association.

Nezihe Tekman’s work has been selected among esteemed scientists brining in their research from 23 different countries around the globe…

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Nezihe Tekman participated in a conference alongside esteemed scientists from 23 different countries around the globe; Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, China, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Holland, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, England and America.

The conference has been expressed to be held biannually with a different theme each time, and that it is the only platform which brings consumer law specialists from around the world together; holding workshops and organizing research projects on protecting consumer rights.

Her research will be published in “Consumer Protection: Current Challenges and Perspectives"…

Nezihe Tekman’s research will be published in the 25th year special edition of Brazilian Journal of Consumer Law, which is a peer-reviewed Thomson Reuters print, and also in the first chapter of a book titled as “Consumer Protection: Current Challenges and Perspectives". Tekman: “The research has been conducted based on unfair commercial practice and precedent cases of Court of Justice of the European Union”…

Providing details on her research Tekman expressed that the aim of her research was creating awareness on consumer unjust treatment and provide the protection which consumers need for in community acquis. She added that unjust commercial practice directive and precedent cases of Court of Justice of European Union have been investigated for her research.

The criteria used to evaluate the suggestion on possible changes to be made and unjust treatment and decisions made by the Court of Justice of European Union have been used as a framework to evaluate which consumers were in an unjust treatment status.

According to the research, 500 million consumers within the EU will be starting a new era regarding the protection of their consumer rights…

Nezihe Tekman stated that according to the results of her study, if the average consumer rate is taken by the unjust treated consumers, then five hundred million consumers within the European Union will be entering a new era regarding the protection of their consumer rights.
