Academic Member of Near East University Institute of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sağsan and Tijen Zeybek give Seminar to Municipality of Bursa Yıldırım Personnel

Near East University Institute of Social Science and Head of Centre of Information Management (CIM) Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sağsan and Member of Board of Management of CIM Tijen Zeybek gave a seminar to personnel of Municipality of Bursa Yıldırım on special invitation.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sağsan expressed that all organisational and administrative problems were due to lack of necessary information; and that in order to resolve organisational problems there was a need for ‘access to information’.

Prof. Sağsan: “Intellectual capital in local managements has a positive influence on institutional value and therefore raises the institutional reputation”
During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sağsan provided details on how public data can be converted to information in local managements. Furthermore, he provided insights on how implicit information could be uncovered and added to intellectual capital and pointed out that intellectual capital had the potential to raise the reputation of an institution by raising its value through the presence of intellectual capital. Moreover, he described how abstract concepts such as patents, commercial brands and copyright could be added to local institutions and informed the audience on how these may be benefitted in municipalities. At the end of the seminar, it was stated that Vice Head of Municipality of Yıldırım, Togay Yılmaz, who obviously got positively influenced by the seminar made a promise and proposed that those who apply for a patent design to their Municipality Management by the end of May 2018 will be awarded with a double salary and a trip to Northern Cyprus for a week’s stay.


Academic Member Tijen Zeybek: “Attendees of the seminar personally experienced ‘Emphatic Communication’ process and therefore the goal was reached!”
Making a statement on the matter, Academic Member Tijen Zeybek, stated that the personnel of the Municipality of Bursa Yıldırım who attended the seminar themed as communication were provided insights on communication under several subthemes such as ‘communication without conflict’, ‘communication as a means of understanding’, ‘the representation of institutional identity through the communication among individuals’. It was pointed out that around 500 municipality personnel had attended the seminar and that the seminar was regarded as rather fruitful and interactively preformed. Furthermore, it was stated that the Municipality Authorities had expressed that they had found it to be quite beneficial for all.

Subsequent to the seminar, Near East University Academicians and the Municipality Authorities had reached an agreement that they wanted to continue the educational process of the seminar to equip the personnel with theoretical knowledge which could be transferred to application necessary for their occupational lives.
