As part of the “sustainable environmental education program for teachers” program developed by Head of Department of Classroom Teaching of Near East University and Researcher at Irfan Günsel Research Centre Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot, the book titled as “Environmental Education” has been published by Eğiten Kitap publishing house.

Making a statement to the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot stated that the program was developed in accordance with the needs analysis of teachers working under the body of Directorate of Secondary Education and Technical Vocational Education. He added that the needs analysis revealed that the teachers needed information and an integration program on issues regarding Basic Environment and Ecology; Biological Diversity; Environmental Problems; Cultural Heritage; Environmentally Aware Consumerism; Recycling; Environmental Health; Preventing Environmental Pollution with Education: Environmental Ethics; Nature Photography; Environment Protection and Sustainability. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot stated that a book had been published aiming to fit this need and added that although the book was written to be used by teachers, teacher candidates could also make use of it as a comprehensive resource.

It was pointed out that the Atatürk Faculty of Education and the Irfan Günsel Research Centre held a promotion day at the foyer of Near East University Grand Library to which Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu; General Director of Communal Democracy Party Cemal Özyiğit and many NEU Academics and Students attended.

Fikri Ataoğlu: “The program developed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot and the book he wrote will make a major contribution to environmental education”

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu made an opening speech at the promotion event of the book and stated that the program which was developed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot and the book written by him will make a significant contribution to environmental education. Subsequent to Fikri Ataoğlu’s speech, a speech by Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı and Assist Prof. Dr. Kemal Batman were given, where they both made emphasis on the essentiality of environmental education. Later, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot provided details regarding the developmental process of the program and the writing of the book titled as “Environmental Education”. The signing ceremony of the book ended after Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Kaşot signed his books. It was pointed out that the book will be on sale in Northern Cyprus and in Turkey as a course book on environmental education.
