A significant donation from Mete Adanır Foundation to Near East University National History Museum

Efforts to establish the National History Museum on Near East University Campus are continuing in accordance with the joint decision of the Boards of Trustees of University of Kyrenia and Near East University. The Museum is expected to shed light on strive of existence of the Turkish Cypriots throughout history. In this regard, the museum will hold historical documents and artefacts reflecting the past of the Turkish Cypriots and various parties are making donations to realize the establishment of the museum.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the museum is to be opened on Near East University campus in 2016 through the joint decision of the Boards of Trustees of Near East University and University of Kyrenia. It was expressed that on behalf of the Mete Adanir Foundation, Eralp Adanir had made a donation to help establish the National History Museum. As the first Turkish Cypriot to participate in the athletics championships, Mete Adanir’s medals, championship cups, his sports uniforms and sports equipment were donated to the museum. Additionally, a record collection of Turkish singers’ songs related to the 1974 Peace Operation was also donated to the museum.
