A Protocol Envisioning Cultural and Educational Cooperation between Near East University and TURKSOY has been signed

Near East University has signed a cooperation protocol with the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), which carries out activities to strengthen the ties of brotherhood and solidarity among Turkic peoples with a view to transmitting their common cultural heritage to future generations and promoting it around the world.

The protocol, which envisions educational and cultural cooperation between the two institutions, was signed on behalf of their institutions by Near East University Board of Trustees President Professor İrfan Suat Günsel and Dusen Kaseinov, the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the protocol comprised terms and resolutions concerning the revitalization and development of Turkic culture and education as an integral part of global civilization. Within the frame of the protocol that signed at the Rectorate of Near East University, joint projects will be carried out in the field of education, culture and arts between Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkic republics and communities.

Underlining the great importance of the Turkic world for them, NEU Board of Trustees President Professor İrfan S. Günsel stated that the protocol would further the mutual relations and boost the current activities in the field of education, culture and art with the Turkic world. "The academic and cultural joint studies as well as artistic activities to be carried out in the line with the cooperation protocol will further enrich us" noted he.

Underlining that the activities that carried out by TURKSOY since its establishment to strengthen the ties of brotherhood and solidarity among Turkic peoples with a view to transmitting their common cultural heritage to future generations and promoting it around the world were appreciated greatly by member countries, Prof. Dr. İrfan Günsel stated that the cooperation protocol that they signed with TURKSOY, which ensures collaboration of Turkic speaking countries in the field of education, culture and art, would constitute an important bridge in strengthening the cultural interaction and communication between the Turkic world and TRNC.

Underlining the crucial role of the artistic and cultural activities of Near East University in promoting Turkic culture and art as well as TRNC to the world, Professor Dusen Kaseinov, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, stated that the protocol that they had signed with Near East University was of importance for them.

"As in education and science, Near East University has been carrying out an important mission to transmit the Turkic cultural heritage to future generations and take this common cultural heritage to the place that it deserves in universal sense. Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts is the most prominent example of this mission. I believe that this partnership will bring our young generations around our common values" said he.

Academic, Social and Cultural Studies will be conducted…
The cooperation protocol comprises terms and resolutions fostering mutual collaborations, cultural interaction and sharing between TURKSOY member countries, scientific research studies on Turkic cultural heritage, joint academic, social and cultural studies exploring the common history, language, literature, culture and art of Turkic peoples.

Within the terms stipulated by the cooperation protocol, all Turkic universities and scholars engaged in education, science, culture and art will be provided with opportunity for online access to Near East University Grand Library, which is granted the status of the Central Library of Turkic World. Besides, Near East University's Super Computer, which can process 12 trillion floating point operations per second with twelve teraflops processing speed with a total of 42 TB capacity, will be open to the use of Turkic world scientists.
