8th International Media Workshop organized by Near East University has started

The “International Media Workshop”, which has been organized by the Near East University Communication Faculty Radio, Television and Cinema Department for eight years and has become traditional, started with a technical trip to Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation.

The Media Workshop, which hosts media professionals from different fields every year, will continue with different activities for two weeks this year. Within the scope of this year’s workshop, the workshops of famous TV program producer İnci Ertuğrul and BRTK Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt will also take place. In addition, the award-winning Cinematographer and Director Cüneyt Denizer will share his experiences with the students of the faculty with the workshop he will held as part of the events. Iranian scientist and artist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdolhossein Laleh will be among the names to be hosted this year. Laleh will participate as a speaker in the panel themed “Hero in Iranian Cinema” moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sabire Soytok from Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Fine Arts.

Successful graduates of the Near East University Faculty of Communication will also be hosted within the scope of the workshop. İzmir İlkses Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Erdal Erek will share his industry experiences with faculty students in an interview titled ‘My Career Journey’.


The first event of the workshop was a technical trip to the BRTK Museum of Broadcasting History
8th International Media Workshop Coordinator Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap said that they organized the Technical Trip to the BRTK Museum of Broadcasting History in order to show the young people who came to the country for educational purposes, both the practice areas and the important places related to the country.

Within the scope of the BRTK Museum visit, the Communication Faculty team, welcomed by the Director of the Institution Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt and the museum curator artist Ayhatun Ateşin, was shown the museum and the establishment and importance of the BRT in the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle was explained.

Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap said that they also discussed cooperation with the institution on organizing scientific and applied studies and that internship opportunities were created for students. Prof. Dr. Kasap added that, Faculty of Communication faculty members, Film Production and Publishing Department Head Assist. Prof. Dr. İzlem Kanli, Assist. Prof. Dr. Naile Berberoglu, Serkan Fundalar and Zeyde Yalıner Örek organized different observation and training activities within the institution by dividing the students into groups.
