40 Papers Were Presented in Eight Sessions at the 3rd International Cinema Symposium Hosted by Near East University

Organized by Near East University Communication Research Center and Near East University Faculty of Communication Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, the “3rd. "International Cinema Symposium" was held successfully. The symposium was held for the third time this year. In addition to the partnership of the TRNC Presidency, the symposium was supported by the TRNC National Assembly, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema, TRNC Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Culture Department, Turkish World Culture Art and Cinema Foundation, Communication Research Center (İLAD) and IKSAD, and world's leading universities. The symposium, which attracted great interest from universities from the TRNC, Turkey and abroad, was held with the main theme of "Culture - Identity - Ideology". The symposium, held in eight different sessions and under eight different titles, lasted five days.

40 papers were presented in 8 sessions
More than 70 academicians from different countries attended the symposium, which continued for five days. At the symposium, 40 papers were presented in eight sessions. This year, three important cinema academics from Turkey, Iran and TRNC made presentations on different topics before the symposium sessions. In their presentations, Prof. Dr. Belkıs Ayhan Tarhan from TRNC focused on “Films as a Form of Cultural Action(e): A Sociological Perspective on Turkish Cinema”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdolhossein Laleh from Iran discussed "Language Indicators in National Cinema" and Cinema critic Vecdi Sayar from Turkey discussed "Contributions of Festivals to Cinema Culture and Film Industry".

At the closing ceremony of the symposium, the finalists of the 3rd International Short Film Competition held within the scope of the symposium were introduced and the photographs that were eligible to receive awards in the Photography Competition were exhibited online.
