32 medical students from 19 countries who came to Northern Cyprus continue their internships at the Near East University Hospital

Medical students from Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Croatia, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Egypt, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Ukraine and Jordan who have been carrying out their internships at the Near East University Hospital explained why they chose the Near East University and the TRNC.

Medical students from many countries around the world continue to choose the Near East University Faculty of Medicine and the Near East University Hospital for their internships and clinical studies. Near East University, which is preferred for its strong infrastructure, qualified education and practice opportunities and international recognition in medical education, continues to host 32 medical students from Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Croatia, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Egypt, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Ukraine and Jordan in August.

International students who come to the TRNC as part of the “Internship and Research Exchange Program”, which is a member of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) and is included in the Medical Students Association of Northern Cyprus (MSANC), have the opportunity to socialize by experiencing the beauties of the TRNC in addition to their professional development.

Medical candidates of future who choose Near East University for their internship say that they have had a unique experience in the TRNC.

Victor T. E. Rodriquez: “I had the opportunity to see a lot of patients, they put a lot of effort into teaching us.”

Victor T. E. Rodriquez, a fourth-year medical student who came to Near East University for his internship from Spain, said, “It is a great advantage for us to have a lot of patients here compared to the hospitals where we did our internship before. I had the opportunity to see a lot of patients, the health service works very well. I have performed many surgeries here. The experiences I have gained will be very effective for my future professional life.” Rodriquez, who stated that he met new people in the TRNC and learned about the culture of the country, said, “The professors and doctors here make a great effort to teach us details of our profession.”

Pietro Pastoni: “I learned many new things in practice and theory.”

Pietro Pastoni, a fourth-year student who came from Italy for an internship, stated that the education system in Italy and the system at the Near East University are very similar, and said, “I will continue at the cardiology department and we have done many applications here. This was a very valuable experience for us.” Pietro Pastoni also said, “I learned many new things in practice and theory. We also have met new people and have seen new places. I will recommend the Near East University to all my friends, this is a very unique experience.”

Maria Bara: “The experiences and knowledge I gained here will be very useful in my profession.”

Maria Bara, a senior medical student who came from Croatia to carry out her internship at the Near East University Hospital, said, “We had a very good experience.” Bara also said, “The experiences and knowledge I gained here will be very useful in my profession. We are surrounded by very experienced teachers and we are doing very beneficial practices. I will always recommend this program in my country.” Maria Bara also emphasized that she loves the TRNC very much.

Aya Awad: “I loved the people, culture and food here. I will definitely come to your country again.”

Aya Awad, who came to the TRNC from Egypt for an internship, said, “The teachers and doctors at the hospital speak very good English and make us feel very good. I loved the people, culture and food here. I loved the Cyprus Meatballs the most. What we learned here contributed a lot to both us and our profession. The beaches of Cyprus are also very beautiful,” and shared her experiences. Aya Awad, who said that she loves the TRNC very much, also said “I will definitely come to your country again.”
