“2nd International Student Congress” to be held on 25-27 April with the theme “Migration and Health” will bring together medical students from around the world at Near East University!

“2nd International Student Congress”, which will be held with the theme of “Migration and Health” in cooperation with the Near East University Faculty of Medicine and the Dean of Students Office will be held at Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center on 25-27 April. The congress, supported by the Near East University Medical Students Association (NEUMSA) and the Medical Students Association of Northern Cyprus (MSANC), will last for two days. The Congress aims to discuss the effects of immigration on health from the perspective of medical students by bringing together academics, researchers and students specialized in the field of immigration and health services.

The “2nd International Student Congress” aims to understand the effects of migration on health systems, public health and the well-being of societies and to raise the awareness of the next generation of health professionals on this important issue.


The effects of immigration on the healthcare system will be discussed!

Near East University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Gamze Mocan and Near East University intern doctors Suğde Aktun, Okan Erdemsiz and Süleyman Gündüz, year-6 students of Near East University Faculty of Medicine, who assumed the chairmanship of the congress together with Dean of Students Dudu Özkum Yavuz, emphasized in their joint statement that the phenomenon of migration has significant effects on social dynamics and health systems.

Stating that the phenomenon of migration is an increasingly important issue that needs to be researched, the congress presidents said, “This congress will bring together students and academics to understand and discuss the effects of migration on health and to seek solutions. It will comprehensively address issues such as immigrants’ access to healthcare, psychosocial problems, epidemiological dynamics and cultural adaptation. In addition to interacting with experts on health and migration issues, this congress will also allow different disciplines to come together and create creative ideas.”
