235 young dentists who graduated from Near East University Faculty of Dentistry took their first steps into their profession by taking the oath at the Atatürk Culture Congress Center

235 young dentists who graduated from Near East University Faculty of Dentistry in the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year took their first steps into their profession with the oath ceremony held at Atatürk Culture Congress Center.

In the first session of the ceremony, 181 dentists who graduated from the Turkish program of the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry took the oath; In the second session, 54 graduates who successfully completed the English program took the oath.

At the ceremony, for the first time this year, “Education Performance Awards” were given to academics elected by students’ votes.

Students rewarded their teachers with “Educational Performance Awards”!

The winners of the “Educational Performance Awards”, which were given to appreciate the devoted efforts of the faculty members of the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, were determined by the votes of the students.

In the Turkish program, the “Most Influential Educator” award went to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Buhara from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; “Education Achievement Award” received by Prof. Dr. Sevcan Kurtulmuş Yılmaz; the “Young Educator Achievement Award” went to Dt. Gizem Andaç Yanal; “Outstanding Contribution to Practical Education Award” went to Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilan Kırmızı, and the “Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Education Award ” went to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Buhara.

In the English program; “Education Achievement Award” was given to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özay Önöral; “Young Educator Achievement Award” was given to Assist. Prof. Dr. Ammar Kayssoun; “Outstanding Contribution to Practical Education Award” went to Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy; “Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Education Award ” went to Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatma Basmacı. The award-winning faculty members and staff received their awards from Near East University Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy.

After the opening speech made by Dean of Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy, the graduates took their professional oath and conferred upon the title of “dentist”.

Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy: “I congratulate our students and their families who have overcome all difficulties and come to this day. May God speed you.”

Dean of Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy said that they were happy to graduate 235 students this year, 54 from the English program and 181 from the Turkish program, and emphasized that the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, which was established in 2007, has graduated 1908 dentists to date. Prof. Dr. Ulusoy said, “We would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff, including Suat İrfan Günsel, who gave us this justified pride, and the parents who entrusted their children to us.”

Providing information about the faculty, Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy said, “An integrated education system has been implemented in our faculty for 6 years. In this model, various disciplines come together and teach a subject in a certain flow. At the same time, our students have the opportunity to deepen their interests in the fields they are interested in by enrolling in many elective courses within and outside the field.”

Stating that their aim is to train contemporary dentists who are committed to ethical values, responsible, able to protect oral and dental health in society, solution-oriented, and adopting lifelong learning, Prof. Dr. Ulusoy said, “I congratulate our students and their families who have overcome all difficulties and come to this day. God speed you.”
