1,536 healthcare professionals, graduates from the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the Vocational School of Health Services, took their professional oaths and began their professional journeys in the healthcare field.
At Near East University, which is among the top 500 universities in the world and ranked as the 39th most influential university globally, over 1,536 graduates who successfully completed their education in the healthcare field took their first steps into their professional lives with oath ceremonies. The young graduates, who received training in a wide range of fields from medicine to dentistry, pharmacy to nursing, veterinary medicine to healthcare services, pledged to uphold ethical values and declared their readiness to serve in various areas of healthcare services.
As part of the 2025-2026 Spring Semester graduation ceremony, 180 students from the Faculty of Medicine, 140 from the Faculty of Dentistry, 115 from the Faculty of Pharmacy, 228 from the Faculty of Nursing, 233 from the Faculty of Health Sciences, and 129 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine took their professional oaths. 511 students graduating from the Vocational School of Health Services also donned their white coats, took their professional oaths, and began their professional journeys in the healthcare field.
In the ceremonies, which were attended by a large number of academics and families, faculty deans and academics wished the graduates success in their professional lives, while the top students from each faculty and program shared their feelings and thoughts about their education. The young healthcare professionals, receiving their diplomas amidst proud applause, experienced the excitement of starting their new roles serving public health.
Separate Enthusiasm in Each Faculty
Near East University Faculty of Medicine graduates, along with the Founding Dean of the Near East University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Gamze Mocan, took the Hippocratic Oath and entered the medical profession. At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Gamze Mocan gave the opening speech, while Nesli Taşkıran, the top graduate student in the Turkish Medical Program, and Sohaib Alsalkhadi, the top graduate student in the English Medical Program, spoke on behalf of the graduates, sharing their experiences and future goals with the attendees.
At the ceremony held at the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy, following the opening speech by Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış, 115 graduates took the Pharmacist Oath and began their professional lives. The Turkish Program graduates took their oaths with Prof. Dr. Şahan Saygı, Head of the Department of Toxicology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, while the English Program graduates took their oath with Prof. Dr. Kemal Hüsnü Can Başer, Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy. Turkish student Lütfiye Özge Şişik and international student Abdullah Ali Amer also shared their thoughts and feelings on behalf of the graduates.
Graduates of the 2025-2026 Academic Year Spring Semester of the Near East University Faculty of Nursing took their first steps into their professional lives by reciting the Nursing Oath. Students graduating from both Turkish and English programs pledged to practice their professions adhering to ethical principles and values. In addition to speeches given on behalf of the graduates, the presentation of plaques prepared by the English Nursing Program graduates to their faculty members created emotional moments. This meaningful gesture, symbolizing the students’ gratitude to their academics, received great applause from those attending the ceremony.
At the ceremony held at the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, opening speeches were given by Near East University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan and Dean Prof. Dr. Mutahhar Ulusoy. Berkay Hamurcu, the top graduate student in the Faculty’s Turkish Program, spoke on behalf of the graduates, and the third annual Education Performance Awards, organized by the Faculty of Dentistry, were also presented. Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Practical Training, Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Training, Young Educator Achievement, Educational Achievement, and Most Effective Educator were presented during the ceremony.
Graduates of the Near East University School of Health Services Vocational College also donned their white coats, vowing to prioritize human health in all circumstances and to practice their profession in accordance with ethical values. At the ceremony, the Director of the School of Health Services Vocational College, Prof. Dr. Aslı Aykaç, and the second-ranked graduate from the Anesthesia Program, Aleyna Aktürk, gave speeches. Following the ceremony, academics, graduates, and their families marched in a procession to the natural pond on the Near East University campus. The colorful balloons released into the sky by the graduates symbolized the memories of their student years and the new steps they are taking in their professional lives.
