150 students who successfully completed the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy took their first steps into their new lives by throwing caps at the ceremony

150 students who graduated from the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy in the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year received their diplomas at the ceremony held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center.

In the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, Near East University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış gave speeches. On behalf of all the graduates, the top graduate of the faculty Tabarek Thamer Shah shared his feelings.

After the speeches, graduates who received their diplomas, took the oath of pharmacy with Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış and threw away their caps.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan: “Develop projects that you can contribute to the society by constantly improving yourself and assume a leadership role in the field of health.”
In his speech, Near East University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan said, “The doors of a new beginning are opening for you. Now is the time to apply the knowledge and experiences you have gained throughout your university life in the real world. The pharmacy profession plays a critical role in the sustainability of healthcare. Thus, it is of great importance that you make efforts to increase the health awareness of the society, to raise awareness about the correct use of medicines, and to protect public health.

Emphasizing that it is necessary to work with patience, perseverance and determination to achieve success, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan said, “Develop projects that you can contribute to the society by constantly improving yourself and assume the leadership role in the field of health”.

“Do not forget that you graduated from the Near East University, which has made its name among the most respected universities in the world with its scientific productivity, projects developed and produced with the vision of University 4.0, and its experienced academic staff.” Murat Tüzünkan also mentioned the achievements of Near East University by many international higher education institutions and said, “In the World University Ranking, announced in October 2022 by the London-based international higher education rating agency Times Higher Education (THE), our university ranked in the 601-800 band in 2023. On the other hand; In the field of “Education”, we succeded to be ranked in the 401-500 band, in the field of “Clinical and Health” ranked in the 501-600, and in the fields of “Life Sciences” and “Social Sciences” we succeded to be ranked in the 601-800 band in the world.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tüzünkan addressed the graduate students and said, “You, our esteemed graduates, are the most important parts of these achievements. Trust yourself and never go astray.”


Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış: “You are graduating here today by having a multidisciplinary education. You have gained competence in many subjects.”
Starting his speech at the ceremony by commemorating the losses experienced in the 6 February earthquake, Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “When I look back, we were together in many bittersweet events during the time I spent at the Near East University, where I came as a founding member of the Faculty of Pharmacy. I respectfully commemorate our losses in the earthquakes that took place in Turkey after the long difficult pandemic period, and our team of angels, which is our common pain, and many of our lost students and their families.

Stating that as the Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University, they bid farewell to their 17th term graduates this year, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “You are graduating here today by having a multidisciplinary education. You have gained competence in many subjects. With these qualifications, you will realize in your professional life that you are in a very privileged and different lane among other occupational groups.”

Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “You have become a respected profession at the forefront of health-related branches. Your skills and competencies are symbolized by the World Health Organization and the International Health Federation with eight stars. These stars symbolize our constructive, decision maker, communicator, manager, lifelong learner, teacher, leader and researcher features. You now have an eight-star angel.”

Addressing the graduate students, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “In order to achieve the best for you, we have studied at least as much as you do. Our Pharmacy Education program and practices have been accredited by ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education) as of January 1, 2023. Therefore, today you are the first to graduate from a faculty with international accreditation.”


Tabarek Thamer Shah: “I will always remember the hard work we did, the sleepless nights, and the group projects we prepared together since the first year.”
Speaking on behalf of all the graduates, Tabarek Thamer Shah, the top graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Near East University, started his speech with applause and shouted to his graduate friends, saying “We did it!” Tabarek Thamer Shah, who said that they had the pride of graduating by leaving behind a challenging yet fun and instructive education life, said, “I will always remember the hard work we did since the first year, our sleepless nights, and the group projects we prepared together.”

Saying “I congratulate each of you who deserve to graduate,” Tabarek Thamer Shah ended his speech by thanking the families and the teachers who always guided them at the Near East University.
