The doctoral thesis of Assist. Prof. Dr. Tülay Kaya Tekman, who completed her doctoral studies in Curriculum and Instruction at Near East University, has been published as a book by Bilgem Publications.

Another doctoral study conducted at Near East University has reached readers. The thesis of Assist. Prof. Dr. Tülay Kaya Tekman—a faculty member in the Turkish Language Teaching Department at Near East University—focusing on game-based free reading education, has been published as a book by Bilgem Publications.

Titled “Game-Based Free Reading Education: Theoretical Foundations, Practices, and Effectiveness Evaluation”, the study combines game-based learning with reading education, addressing the theoretical framework, implementation processes, and effectiveness of this approach. Prepared by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tülay Kaya Tekman, who completed her doctorate at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Near East University in 2024, the study was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır, Head of the Turkish Language Teaching Department. Following the completion of the thesis, the study was revised and adapted into a book format, published as a joint effort by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tülay Kaya Tekman and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır.

The book covers the theoretical approaches underpinning game-based free reading education, as well as the practices carried out during the educational process and evaluations regarding the results of these practices. The study offers both an academic and practical framework for the use of game-based learning in reading education. Focusing on the fields of educational sciences, reading instruction, and game-based learning, this work serves as a valuable resource for academics and researchers, as well as for teachers and readers interested in the subject.
